Hi I fitted a new clutchkit,when I switch on the car canot get gears,but when of get please help

I fitted a new clutchkit, now when the car starts up I don't any gears,but when of selects easy,please help

Bill is correct. When you fit the clutch, is usually says 'flywheel' on one side. That's usually the flat side of the clutch plate. So make sure the flat side of the plate is on the flywheel on the engine. The centre part of the clutch plate has a raised side and a flat side. It is very easy to see.

More than likely the clutch plate is incorrectly installed and the hub and springs are hitting on the flywheel bolts
fix is box back out and turn the clutch plate around

Hi Zandre Are you sure you have put the Clutch centre plate in the correct way round?
Some plates its impossible to fit incorrectly as you would not be able to fit the pressure plate. However some you can fit incorrectly, its been a long time since I have fitted a clutch to a 98 Nissan so I cannot remember if it is possible to make this mistake.
Did you have this issue before fitting the clutch if not then its something you have done.
If you did then I would be looking at possible bent or fractured clutch pedal brackets or linkages. Good luck.

I have a 2002 Escape, sometimes the gear indicator on the dash puts a box around park and reverse at the same time and it wont let me start it until i take it in and out of park several times and the box...

does the gear shift lever that you change gears with seem loose and has a lot of movement up and down until you can get it to the shifting point or is the lever snug and normal tight feeling to it either way a think your neutral safety/range selector switch maybe broken inside this switch will stop the car from being started in any gear except neutral or park for safety reasons and this could be what is happening here normally I think the box should go around any gear you have selected P/R/N/D etc. to show you what gear your in and for overdrive purposes , but it's showing up around 2 selections at one time and the car won't start this is telling me inside that the switch has somehow become broken and this part of it is reading the wrong position then once you move it around a few times it locates itself in the right place and the car starts get a new neutral safety / range selector switch hers what it looks like its on the transmission

the center part with the 2 notches fits on the transmission and don't have a fit when you first put it in and the truck doesn't start this has to be adjusted by someone under the car while you try to start the car your original one maybe can be adjusted but I think it's n/g because it's showing 2 positions at the same time depending on where you buy it the cost will be for aftermarket $20.-$45 for an automatic transmission $65- $85 for a manual one the dealer will be over $100-$150 I hope this helps and please post back with progress or results and please rate me positively good luck stephen

You will have to tow the car out to a auto transmission specialist as the gears have seized in the gear box. You will cause more damage if you over ride the engine controls. The torque converter must be stuck.

Clutch slave cylinder

Hi Tony,

Typically what happens is the master cylinder went dry. The most reliable way to make it work is to PRE BLEED the master cylinder and then start again.
Go to the parts store and pick up a MC bleed kit. This has little hoses and fittings. You disconnect the line out of the mc, and hood the hose in, and route the other end under the surface level of the fluid in the mc reservoir. Pump until no more bubbles.
FROM This point, be certain that the mc does not run out of fluid!!!.
Hook up the hose and commence bleeding the line and slave cylinder.

hi,at the side of the gearbox there is a green round cover when it is removed there is a fork like lever there they normally brake or it can be faulty clutch parts that is fitted.hope it is usefull

hi this sounds like the switch is u/s worn, there are two types of switch, in two different locations, there is a plunger type switch, it has a sprung loaded plunger into a small switch box, or the contact type switch, which as you move the stick it makes contact inside the switch, one is located under the vehicle on the transmission the other is connected to the gear leaver under the centre console, you will have to locate and replace, as by what you say it just has warn out and needs a new one, hope this helps

hi is the car auto if it is sounds like the inhibator switch is faulty try starting it in netual if no go

hold your foot on the brake hold the key on start and move the gear seletor through the gears all of them if nothing happens then u need a new switch if it turns over then the switch needs adjusting

i had the same fualt and had to renew flywheel with clutchkit.hydraulic system had to be flushed aswell
