Hi

This engine code is related to a malfunction in the electrical circuit for the vent valve/solenoid in the evaporative emission control system.

Probable causes are;

1- Purge or vent solenoids defective.
2- Defective wiring or bad connections in the vent valve/solenoid circuit.
3- Fuel saturated vapor canister.
4- Failed EVAP vent solenoid.

These engine codes are useful indicators to where the fault lies but usually require further troubleshooting to fully determine the underlying cause.

However I have listed the probable causes so to give you a starting point for your investigations.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

It's a fail EVAP vent test.

DO NOT TOP OFF the tank when you fill up the gas tank.

Make sure the gas cap is tight.

You will need to locate the vent solenoid/valve.

Attach hose on both end, apply 12V to the vent solenoid/valve and blow though it.

The passage has to be clear.

Clear it out and re-attach original hoses.

Clear the code and the P0446 should go away.

THE KEY IS DO NOT TOP OFF GAS TANK.

Service Engine Soon light

You can reset the light using an OBDII scanner. If you take the car to autozone and ask them to clear it out for you, they will do this at no charge using an OBDII scanner.

The other option that you have is to disconnect the battery for 5min. Leave it disconnected 5min , then reconnect. The check engine light will be reset.

Keep in mind that these will reset the light, if the fault/problem is still there the light may come back.

Hi. I recently bought a OBDII scanner because my 1998 toyota camry has a check engine light turned on. I got six codes, scary. P0171, P0446, P1130, P1133, P0171 pending, P0446 again. what do all this codes...

there should have been a code book with the OBDII. If not take the codes to a garage near you and ask them, they might give you your answers. If not, I will bookmark this page and see if I can find my book and get back to you. RT

TRANSMISSION..KEEPS SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR ..AUTOMATIC

The automatic transaxels in Hyundai Vehicles are electronically controlled by the transaxel range switch and the various solenoids inside the trans. The only 'mechanical' control is the shifter cable connected between the shifter inside the vehicle & its connection to the trans range switch on top of the transmission. Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular powertrain management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

How to clear code service engine soon 2002

you need to use an OBDII scan tool that will read any "error" codes and give you the system that will be causing the check engine light to come on. this tool will also allow you to erase the code after you have read it. write the code down as you may have to pinpoint exactly what part may have failed and needs replacing. something as simple as a loose gas cap will cause the check engine light to come on. it could be any of a dozen different emission or ignition sensors that may be bad depending on the error code. all 1996 and newer vehicles sold in the US will have the OBDII system and standard diagnostic/data link connector, which is usually under the driver side of the dash, to plug the scan tool into to read the DTC's(diagnostic trouble codes).

Check Engine light comes on....

2006 uses OBDII system and you will need a OBDII scanner to check the problem. Now keep in mind that when you do a scan you will get many codes. Usually the first in line is the one that started the problem. Good luck

The check engine light comes on all the time now and the Audi service dept constantly tells me it could be a 1000 reason why it continues to come on and each time I take it to the service dept, it cost me...

There really are 1000 reasons the check engine light is coming on. If you keep resetting it and it comes back on, and it is not affecting the engines performance it is more than likely a faulty sensor. But thats just 1 of the many reasons. They want to keep you coming back so unless you tell them to fix it. They are going to be very vague. Get the obdII software and reader is the best thing I can tell you. Then you can read the code that is tripping the CEL. Hope it helps!
