If you do not have a check engine light on or one flashing you do not have any cylinder misfiring going on. I do not know which engine you have but the common causes of shake ore engine and transmission mounts are defective, exhaust system is stressed due to an impact. Look for damage. Also the miles on the ticker help me to give cause, if it is very high miles then the motor counts would be my focus.

Why does my ford 429 start to shake when I put it into gear at idle only

More info is needed. Has it been upgraded to fuel injection? What is idle set to in park? Is there an aftermarket cam installed?

If it was originally in a manual transmission car and your car is automatic the idle will need to be adjusted higher. If it has been upgraded to fuel injection (throttle body injection) I would start by checking the idle air control.

If we have more info about the engine we can help out more.

Why my 97' f-250 7.3 powerr stroke keeps dieing while idling

The power stroke engine has several things that will cause this problem #1 crank shaft sensor AKA cam shaft sensor on crank shaft located on passenger side of engine near crank shaft pulley # 2 IPC sensor Injection pressure control if has oil in sensor replace it & wiring pigtail .#3 high pressure oil pump not up to par. #4 injection pressure regulator solenoid they get sticky. with a good scanner that has FORD enhanced software you can check all of these without leaving the drivers seat and perform running tests on injectors and test the ficm module interface with the pcm. My 2003 VW 2.0 golf uses 51 litres (full tank) lasts only 307 kilometres. When idle, the car also shakes and sometimes stalls although I am driving an automatic. There is often a very potent smell when I...

There’s probably a misfire in the cylinders. Have the computer scanned for error codes. You may need a new mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors, spark plugs and ignition coils. The smell is most likely burning fuel as the car tries to inject more fuel to compensate for the misfire.

1994 v6 Nissan pickup dies at stop lights. won't idle.

Hello, first is it carburetor or fuel injected engine? When was the last time it was tuned up?
If carbureted engine then the carburetor will need to be rebuilt or replaced with a rebuilt carb.

If fuel injected engine. low fuel pressure, faulty fuel injectors, new air cleaner, throttle position sensor might need to be replaced, air flow sensor could be faulty, broken vacuum hoses, plug fuel filter, faulty fuel pump, new spark plugs, etc. All of these things need to be checked out.

You are probably not getting very good fuel mileage. Couple of things will be needed. rebuild carburetor, new filters, and a tune up. GB...stewbison

My Chevy S10 '87 2.5 liter engine seems to shake and surge most times and I have sensed it is choking very slightly as I drive. What can I do to adjust the choke. This maybe a Throttle Body Injection...

Check ALL vacuum hoses as your truck is getting older and rubber components may be breaking down.ALL sensors need good connections, electrical and where needed, vacuum to send correct data to the computer.
Has the throttle body been cleaned lately?
Don't overlook regular maintenance,plugs,wires etc.

Hi, I have a 2006 Altima with 31,500 miles. Recently, the engine start shaking when car is Idle but I still feel the shake when driving or at red lights. My second problem is a weird loud (humming) noise...

You don't need to change the spark plugs since it has only 31.5 K. The plugs should last 60K. There is a an adjustment at the gas cable end at engine to increase the idle a little bit. You can increase rpm at idle to 600 RPM. Since your RPM at idle is low that why it is shaking at idle, red lights. Let me know it it is shaking at high speed ( 2500 RPM)
