I'm trying to locate the fuel pump relay on my 1987 Subaru Hatchback 1.8L

there is not one, only fords had them.

On the relay panel, underneath the dash board, near the foot pedals. The fuel pump relay is usually on the top right corner of the panel.

The fuel pump relay is driver side, under dash, above brake pedal, mounted in steering column support bracket on 1991 Loyale this relay also performs an ignition system function

The fuel pump relay is on the driver's side in front of the tire. You have to remove the bumper to get to it. Easily replaced once the bumper is off. Two minutes at the most. It's the one not in a row.

most fuel pump relays are located in the main fuse box,under the hood. look for a black box on the drivers side,or passenger side fenderwell under the hood. lift cover off and look on underside of the fuse box lid for location of the fuel pump relay and main engine fuse.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

first check fuel pressure, guages sold at local auto store run $30-$50.. but it is a quick hook up and sorts out alot of maybe'sss.

if in fact there is no pressure you are likely correct in looking at a relay or the pump itself.. relay should be labelled with all the other in hood compartment..

whereas, the fuel pump is likely in the tank, so drop the tank, and replace.. they go for about $100 for a rebuilt.. don't forget to also change the fuel filter.. Subaru put the filter easily located in engine compartment.

On the back side of the drivers strut tower....big silver box with a blue relay on the side.

There is a Fuel Pump relay. Not sure if Ford has a Relay Box under the Hood though. There are also Fuses that Control some items of the Fuel System. Try the Relays first and see what you have.
