If the door lock master switch is on the driver's door panel, most common issue is either a bad switch, or broken wiring in the door hinge area where it flexes.

Locks on Back Doors, and more...

This is because your master switch on the drivers door may have corroded oxidation on the contacts inside the switch and that master switch is the feed for all inside door lock switches your remote and keypad work because those electrical signals go through the driver door module you must clean all contacts on the master switch get them shiny you can use 4/0 steel wool and alcohol and also take the lock switch apart and clean the button contacts inside the switch for this use alcohol and 1000 grit sandpaper glued to a pencil and lightly spin in your fingers to shine the contacts sometimes just an eraser works but it depends on the quality of it so go with the sandpaper glued to the pencil or any circular object that will fit inside after this blow out the switch and use the alcohol to clean out and let dry

My 1997 vw polo classic 18i's doors wont open,it works on central locking with air,i cant manually pull the door knobs up but my boot and petrol cap wont open, ive disconnected the little pipe of the...

The air powered centrol locking is a pain, not the least because of the high cost of a replacement circuit board.

I can't quite remember how I overcame the problem. I think I applied either pressure or suction to the air pipe to unlock everything and then once everything was unlocked I was able to manually lock and unlock each door and in this case the boot lid. The fuel flap was left unlocked without problems.

Battery failed and lights flashing?
Parking lights will flash when the vehicle's battery is disconnected and reconnected.
To stop lights from flashing, either:
Press remote transmitter "UNLOCK" button once OR turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and press programming button for one second (see below).
The vehicle interior (courtesy) light and door open warning light (DOOR AJAR indicator) will then illuminate for 60 seconds when the ignition is turned off, or until the doors are locked with the remote transmitter. Yes, the dashboard instrument panel lights will flash when the parking lights flash.

Programming or Overriding the Alarm when you have lost the remote
Open driver's door.
Turn ignition key to 'On'
Press and *hold programming button* in (see diagram, button under dashboard)
After 15 seconds the the door locks will cycle 3 times. Do not release Programming button.
Press lock (left) button the remotes to be programmed. The door locks will cycle one time. Exit programming mode by releasing Programming button under dashboard and turning key to off.

codealarmremote1.jpgCode Alarm Programming Button is under dashboard on the kick panel by the driver's left knee, left of the steering column. If you can't find it, it might still be tucked up in the wiring harness higher up in that same general area. The botton is recessed in a plastic ring (see diagram).
This button must be pressed while programming remotes or if the battery was disconnected and the lights are flashing.

Central locking not operaiting

Was the car battery disconnected before this central locking problem. Also is the central locking system operated by remote. If yes, then is the remote battery new or old.If the battery in remote is old then try with new battery. Also if the central locking is controlled by a push button in the car then it can be the problem with push button switch .The switch on driver side is got short. It has to be checked with meter to confirm the fault.Apply a direct 12 volt external battery to the switch and check if the central locking is getting done. Also confirm if you can lock the doors manually by using a car key.If you are not able to lock the door with key manually then its faulty door latch. But if the door lock and unlock manually with out any problem then this problem is related to central locking switch or the remote.

Vauxhall combi ,side door of van does not open even when central locking is unlocked, the door cannot be opened manually either frrom inside, very occasionally the side door will unlock but will not lock...

A switch opens the door when you use the central locking system. If the door fails to open or close, this switch has probably gotten detached or the locking mechanism is damaged.
To find the problem and fix it-pull apart the door panel and feel for a thin rod connected to the locking mechanism.
This will help you pinpoint the issue and then fix it.
