There is a grinding noise from the front of the vehicle while driving. All new brakes. The wheel bearings have been checked and are fine.

Is it more like a vibration and humming, than grinding noise? If so it would be a bad engine or transmission mount. To check bearings while driving.. Find an empty parking lot, Make right and left turns/circles. Making a left, if the noise get loader, the right side bearing is bad. and vice versa. Do around 10 MPH while turning circles.

Is the serpentine belt still intact? The grinding noise maybe the water pump which would account for the overheating.

Front end noise

Assuming that you have already ruled out the brakes, severely worn engine mounts can transmit vibration and noises from the engine which are not normally heard. You don't say in what I see but is the vehicle two or four wheel drive. Since you mention CV half shafts I have to assume it is at least front wheel drive. If the vehicle is four wheel drive then there is a front differential with bearings in it that may be at fault. Have you done both sides when you say "hub assembly". Defective hub bearings will make grinding noises which will change tone or intensity when turning, accelerating or braking however the noise is usually fairly constant unless they are only just starting to fail. CV joints don't normally "grind" unless they are really bad. They usually make progressively worse "clicking" sounds or "clunking" sounds especially when turning hard, changing gears or direction of travel (forward to reverse and back again). Do you have non-stock tires/wheels? Larger/wider than factory spec tire sizes can rub the fender wells when the car is moving or turning. Another thing it could possibly be is the air dam below the front bumper. If it is loose it will push down in the airstream while the car is moving and rub on the ground.

Grinding and grabbing in the rear of 2006 Rainer

There are many possibilities that can cause car to make noise.

It's actually from where the noise is coming from. Front end or rear end. From engine area or from inside the steering or from brakes.

There is N-number of possibilities for the car to make grinding noise or any other kind of noise.

X type 2.2d 2007 Noises when turning left. Have experimented a bit since I first heard the noise and if I turn the steering hard left then accelerate slowly until I am going round in circles fairly fast...

you seem to have a sheering hub bearing. ..the car will have to be raised and to checked but this is usually the issue with that car...I have seen it on xj and x type and some s types also...the noise will get worse as you drive it, but if the sound is a low humming sounds usually thats it,but if its a grinding sound and the car leaning in the rear to the side that has the noise then it is usually a carrier bearing...get her on a stand and keep me posted.

My car is a 1999 Subaru Outback Station wagon. We

two things you must address, first the tires may need rotating, 4WD cars need all tires to be close to the same size or conflicts in gearing occur, second change the oil in the rear axle this can cause noisy operation.
