2003 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 6 Cyl - Cooling Fan is not coming on. Discovered this when coolant started spraying from the top heater hose and engine temp started running much higher than normal. What could have caused all of this to happen at one time? Possible causes: blown fuses, relays, circuits, something lodged in the fan, fan unplugged? Don't have extra money right now to take it to a dealer.
The fan motor could just be bad, you can test this by removing the fan and connecting a wire to each terminal and to a battery. the wires hooked up one way will spin the fan and the other way will spin the fan backwards so you cant hook it up wrong. I hope that helps you out!

Thank you, hankfan18436! I tested both fans, both work. What would the easiest, cheapest "next step" be? The wires leading from the fans seem to be well protected. Are there any areas that could be more easily damaged by heat or moving parts? The relays seem to be okay, and when replaced, the fans still do not work. The fuses are not blown. Relays and fuses were checked for both fan 1 & 2. One relay was black and was just labeled "cooling fan", two gray relays were each marked cooling fan 1 and cooling fan 2. Both fuses (30) were marked, one for each fan. There was a recent radiator hose leak, could that have damaged the wiring? I recently had the drive belt replaced, mechanic stated the tensioner was going out. Could the replacement have effected the fans, or the fact that the drive belt tensioner is bad?
