Where is timing mark?

both marks need to line up or you'll be off timing. You can double check the timing marks by pulling the rubber plug on the transmission and seeing the tdc marks on the flywheel. Good luck and I hope this helps

1998 Subaru Legacy L - Is there a timing belt?

yes, there is a big belt and it is a job to replace, remove just about everything up front, radiator, timing covers, fan, belts, pulleys, hoses, etc, I think you change the water pump at the same time, not sure, But get the new belt with timing marks on it, they come in real handy, clamp the cams so they don't retract, before pulling the belt, put a pin in the belt tensioner hole if it has one, then pull the belt off, align all the marks, they have to be perfect, or don't bother. When it is all set to the marks, release the tension on the tensioner and spin the engine by hand with spark plugs removed , a couple times, when it comes around to one mark again, check them all, they all should be right on the mark. If you can't find a belt with the marks on it already, mark the old belt, with a white out pen or junk yard pen, relay the marks to the new belt. Then try it, it is most important that they line up. Crank and cams, all have marks on them. Hope this helps.

Were the timing mark are

Timing marks are located between the engine and tranny. There is a small opening, on the front of the tranny, at the bell housing where the timming marks are visible. It might have a rubber plug, in that opening, that pulls out for viewing the marks.

How to remove timing belt/head for gasket replacement on 1992 ford laser 1.6

Is this an over head cam? Must be if it has a timing belt. OK, Pull everything off that is in the way, take fotos if you have to remember where everything went, air filter, intake, dist? anything, everything. Fan in the way? Timing cover, Expose the belt, highlight the timing marks on the cam and the crank, put the mark on the belt as well, Pull off rocker cover, Look underneath cam for head bolts, If the cam has to come off, Mark it with a white pen or a junk yard marker, Do not let it move from its position, Pull the cam, pull the head bolts, pull the head off. Check it for flat, see if it got hot and warped. If it did, you will need to get it planed. You might as well get it checked out while you got it off. Get a new gasket on there, no adhesive, no silicone, no glue, dry. You are supposed to use new bolts, but we'll let it slide. They cost about $50. Torque it down according to spec and pattern, Put the cam back on, align the marks, put the belt on, It should line up with the mark, or better yet, it has to. Set the tension on the belt, put the covers back on, you could crank the engine over by hand to make sure it is OK, then put it all back together, to make it easy to spin by hand, pull the spark plugs out. Get all the fan, air filter, intake, wires, cables, etc back on there, check the foto, fire it up. Hope this helps.

I cant find my timing marks for my 1990 honda accord lx because the cover is slightly woren but are the timing marks on the cover or engraved in the metal? this is for the crank shaft.

The 1990-1993 accord timing marks are located in the space between the engine and transmission. There is a rectangular rubber plug, at the top, front of the transmission housing, that pulls out and the timing marks are visible(with a timing light) through that access hole.

OKAY, THE BEST WAY TO NOT BEAT AROUND THE BUSH IS,
(1) REMOVE FRONT SPARK PLUG, STICK A SCREW DRIVER TO FIND THE EXACT TDC. (2) TIMING MARK ON CRANKSHAFT, MAKE SURE TS EXACT ON "0". IF THOSE TWO DONT SHOW ON THE EXACT MARK THE TIMING IF OFF.!!! THEN TAKE IT APART AND MAKE SURE THOSE TOW ARE ON THE DOT. -- TDC AND CRANK SHAFT "0" MARK.
