2003 Volvo S80, won't start no spark. Diagnostic says via oscilloscope says three pulses off time. When inspecting the cam and crank positions all seem good. How can it be three pulses off?

Sounds like a crankshaft position sensor issue...you may be able to just clean it but more than likely it will need replacement which may not be particularly easy...depending on your skill level.

Testimonial: "Thank you it was the crank sensor and now it starts, but still a very hard back fired filled start but after it starts it runs perfectly and more thoughts and thank you for your response!"

SOURCE: Radio and Sunroof both stopped working at same time. Fuses in 3 locations all seem to be good.

Not positive it is the same thing, however, when setting up my iPOD adapter to the radio, I made the mistake of not following the instructions to the T, and it caused my sunroof to stop working... after a day (which I later found out gave the system enough time to "reset" and connect), I turned on my stereo, pushed the 3CH to Dolby Surround, and that did the trick. It's been about a year... and I've had no problems with the sunroof!

SOURCE: My 2003 Volvo S80 cruise control workds sporadically.

On my 2002 S80 T6, the problem is the brake booster diaphragm position sensor's failure (Volvo 2002 S80 T6 part #31261486--other years, models might be different). This is essentially a piston-driven potentiometer that tells the cruise control system when you've applied the brakes, signaling it to switch off control of the throttle. It's mounted on the back of the brake booster with a wire circlip. It's not easy to get at, and I had to remove the cross-brace between the shock mounts to get at it more easily. The part's about $90 from online parts sources, more at the dealer, plus my dealer wanted a king's ransom to install, $400, parts and labor! While not easy to get to, it's fairly easy to replace--just BE SURE to pump the brakes a lot, engine off, before removing it so that residual booster vacuum won't **** the rubber o-ring around the sensor's cylindrical body into the booster chamber. Hardest, most aggravating part is removing and replacing that steel circlip that holds the sensor in place. Dropping that little steel band into the back of the engine bay kicks off a whole new adventure!

SOURCE: my 1999 volvo s80 won't start. turn the key

On your year there would be something , like cranking , if the security is set. I would start with checking the fuses and then work my way to the starter relay. then I would go to the starter.

2000 Volvo s80 sparks but doesn't start??? Help!

do you have fuel pressure? Check schreader valve on fuel rail for fuel pressure (push little pin in and see if fuel squirts out) If not, your pump is not working. if you do, you may have a cam or crank position sensor that is not working.

2002 VOLVO S80 T6 CODE P0017

the word correlation means relationship between two or more items . In this case it means that when the crank shaft sensor is triggered then the camshaft sensor has to be in agreement that the position of the piston and valves is in the right position to allow spark and fuel.. there are air gaps between each sensor and the rotor that triggers them and if this is not correct or there is dirt in the air gap ( the sensors may be a bit advanced or retarded in the fitment holes) then this relationship of positions is being interfered with and so you get the fault code. If after rechecking the fitment of the sensors and using a scanner to put the engine light off ,you still have a problem ,I would suggest that you find an accredited shop the does a lot of work on your make of car to assist with the fault.

check that the cam/crank position sensors are connected . Check that the timing of the cam/s is correct. Check that the ignition timing is firing on the correct cylinder . Check operation of the immobiliser.. Reset the CPU program with a scanner as the battery was off the program may be corrupted.

No spark on 03 dodge neon

There is voltage on all three wires because there is no ground, check with engine cranking. The two wires that go to computer are grounds for coils. You could probably use a noid lite to check for pulse, engine cranking. That should be safe, between primary voltage and one of the grounds. There several ways to visually check for a pulse. If your digital multimeter has a min/max setting, that should work. You could use an l.e.d. but you would have to use resistor.
You changed computer, was it new?
