i think from memory that the oil pressure switch is at the back of the cylinder head, if its not there it will be located just above the oil filter, these switches are very cheep to buy and can be bought from any good motor factors. You are right to suspect the switch, its the first thing to eliminate before bogging your self down with more complicated and expensive problems.

Nope, no check light is triggered by high RPM, unless you overrev and damage something. Go to AutoZone and have them do a code scan (a dealer will charge an hour's labor, but at AutoZone it's free). Post the codes as a reply here and we'll go from there.

No I am a mechanic at Audi. The problem is that the the air flow to the central tappets may be causing the air flow sensor to trip and that is why. Try putting a small amount of WD40 into the petrol and that will work, its a very common problem.
