Air bag Light Stuck On 98 Pontiac Montana

Recently purchased a 1998 Pontiac Trans Sport Montana and after about a weeks driving the Air Bag light came on and stays on. I have disconnected the positive battery connector and reconnected. Still stays on. I looked through the manual and could not find the fuse associated with the Air Bags. Any thoughts on this? Thank you.

Thank you pippall! Just wiggling the wires under the drivers seat made the light go off. I will do further investigating but thanks to you I am in the right location. Thanks so much

Under the front seats you have wires going to your seat belt anchors. These wires are atached to a sensor witch activate the air bags if the anchors have force pull on them. The wires have plugs under the seat.Disconnect the plugs and spray with electical cleaner and replace.Make sure the ignition is switched off befor you attemt doing.90%of the time this will work.good luck.

Driving into work, I picked up a burning plastic smell inside the van. No smoke showing yet...what is going on??

You probably ran over a plastic bag that stuck to the hot exhaust and started to burn under the vehicle. The air currents under the vehicle swirled the bag off the pavement. I see a number of plastic bags fluttering under vehicles while driving on the freeway.

My air bag light stays on in my 2004 pontiac montana

No different than any other OBD2 Malfunction Indicator Light
you get on your dash

My answer is pretty much the same,as we get hundreds of
these same check light questions every day

You can't work on your own car anymore, so it really doesn't
matter why or what the light is for,it still has to go in & be
diagnosed & resolved

That said, if the question is why or what with is wrong with the
srs or safety restraint system (air bag) don't know.

Has to be diagnosed by a repair shop with a professional scan
tool A code reader is of no value,so forget all the going to the
auto parts store advice for something free

Air bag light remains on my car is a pontiac trans am 1999, what can be the problem?

This light means that the air bag will not deploy in an accident. Air bags should only be worked on by a certified tech.
