Robert, check your fuses and replace if bad as a first step. If fuses are good, then you will have to remove rear seat and back to access inside trunk release (located by driver side inner rear quarter, in trunk), if you have a manual it should show this. When and if you gain access to the latch, you will want to lubricate it really well in case it is just sticking, if you can not free up or you find actuator is not working replace the defective parts. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Trunk won,t open so I can get to boot to open mu gas tank

Have you checked the fuse panel for blown fuses? If not, check there first. If so, check to be sure all the wiring harnesses in and around the fuse panel are tight ans secure. If you're really in a pinch and you have rear folding seats you can crawl into the trunk that way.

Trunks

Check trunk switch fuse. Trunk switch or trunk switch solenoid could be bad. Should be able to open trunk with key, that\'s last resort option if others fail.

Trunk won't open

Lower the back seat and crawl into the trunk and see what the latch is doing when you activate the key fob. the trunk lid will have to be open to enable any repairs. Also an emergency release cable is probably visible (yellow handle) inside the trunk and will Open the trunk lid.

Inside trunk release won't open trunk on 2002 Camry. Lock will not turn with master key. Remote trunk opener will open trunk.

1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced

1996 jag xjs , the battery is dead , I need to jump start it but the trunk won't open ,battery in the trunk , can it be jumped from under the hood ? and why won't the trunk open even with a key ?

The trunk latch is operated by a solenoid which it requires power to operate. since the batery is flat then it won't work. I'm not sure where the positive terminal is under the hood but you can connect the positive lead to the alternator wire terminal, and the negative lead can be connected any where on the engine.
Good luck......
