If main ground wire to transmission bellhousing is loose can causes a short and the transmission range sensor to fault. (essentially the car cant tell which gear its in and wont start or causes a stall ) This can cause intermittent starting issues. Older models may not have a ground in this location and one may need to be added. Also sometimes putting in neutral will reset sensor. See STAR CASE S1121000006.

Just had mine tightened on 2016 Caravan... three hours labour before they check for simple Star Case fix...$390 later to tighten a loose ground. Because ive had ADA mods warranty wont cover it saying company who did mods left it loose... yeah right. Existing star case ..... mine is not the only dodge this has happened to, doubt they all had ADA mods.

WILL NOT START 2011 DODGE CARAVAN

First charge then check the battery, if the starter doesn't turn locate the starter relay in the under hood fuse block remove the relay and use a small piece of wire jumper #30 to #87 and the starter should turn. If not check fuse F-13 or F-16 it will be a 40 amp fuse. If it still doesn't crank or just clicks you have a bad battery cable going to the starter or the starter. This test bypasses the security systems and the computer. I hope this helps. Take care. Use comment to ask questions and it will show in my email. I will answer within the hour.

Does a 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan new TIPM require programming?

Just replace them it does not require any reprogramming . if any fault codes are present remove them, test drive for a mile or two , if any codes reappear the fault is not fixed.

Installed new battery and alternator in 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan and still not charging and killing battery.

I would check all connections. Make the belt that spins the alternator is tight. If you can get the vehicle to an advance auto parts or any tech that can test the battery and charging system that would help. They can all so a see if anything is drawing from the battery this will let you know If there is a problem with something draining the battery

Headlights not staying on while driving 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan. I took to a service center and they suggested replacing the light control module "switch", but have to take to the dealership. Dealership...

This vehicle has what is called a TIPM (totally integrated power module). It is actually the whole underhood fusebox/relay center. It is a module and is where the headlamps recieve the power when the pcm and body control modules recieve signal from the headlamp switch. Very common for these TIPM units to go bad causing this type of problem. TIPM usually costs around $650 new from Chrysler. May be able to find a used one. No programming is needed when replacing this TIPM. I would suggest having it at least diagnosed by a qualified technician before investing in the replacement. Hope this helps.

Dodge Grand Caravan won't start. Replaced ignition and starter tested fine but when I turn key and nothing happens

Check the neutral safety switch on the transmission. It should have three wires on the connector (if I remember correctly). There should be power on the Brown with yellow wire with the key in the crank position. If there is ground that wire and see if the van starts. If it does replace the switch. If it does not check the starter relay. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!
