SOURCE: shift solenoid relay.. internal or external?

Trans model is the 4L60E,and the shift solenoids are mounted on the valve body, just inside the bottom pan. There are 2 shift solenoids, one EPC solenoid (Electronic Pressure Control)One TCC PWM solenoid (Torque Convertor Clutch,Pulse Width Modulated),one 3-2 kickdown solenoid, and a manifold pressure switch. As far as a shift solenoid relay switch,i have never heard of that. The power for the transmission solenoids comes through the ignition switch ,and uses a fuse, not a relay.Accessing the solenoids only requires dropping the bottom pan,and the valve body does not have to be removed,to change the solenoids. The shift solenoids are the TWO solenoids right side by side and look identical..They are the only two solenoids inside the pan that are in fact identical.Good luck.

SOURCE: What does code P0753 Shift Solenoid mean?

P0753 means your powertrain computer detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the circuit to your transmission's 1-2 shift solenoid. When the code is active, your transmission runs in a fail safe/limp home mode that only lets certain gear ratios function in the transmission.

The solenoid in your application looks like this
1edc2e6.jpg and it is located sometimes on the side of the transmission, but my guess is from the looks of it, it might be found inside the transmission, only accessible with the oil pan removed.
The problem might be the solenoid itself, or the wiring going to the solenoid from the computer that controls the transmission, or the computer itself.

SOURCE: How do you remove the gear shift lever on a 93 ford ranger?

many of these trucks have a mazda trans in them, to remove these shifters you will need to remove the 4 phillips head screws from the corners of the trim around the shifter boot and pull it up out of your way. it's not necessary to remove the boot from the shifter, just lift it up for access to the top of the trans. at the base of the shifter on the top of the trans you will see a plate attached with torx head screws. remove all but 2 of them, now make sure the trans is in neutral and remove the last 2 screws and pull the shifter straight up. the shifter is now out leaving a big hole open on the top of the trans for dirt to fal into so put a wrag in it or screw a piece of cardboard to it. installation is the reverse. good luck

I have a Suzuki Jimny automatic 2007. It has 3 buttons to select gear type. None of these are now working.

Start by looking at the fuse box... check all the fuses. Next possibility is a relay.

The Suzuki Jimny Transmission Control Module (TCM) is an electronic circuit component that controls gear shift, TCC lock-up and idle-up according to the signal from each sensor. It is a microcomputer consisting of an IC, transistor, diode, etc. It is installed behind glove box.

Trans. modulator on a 93 g20 van ?

Depends on the type of transmission in the van. Most late model transmissions use electronic shift solenoids to control shift points. If the transmission in this van has a modulator valve, it is located on the passenger side of the van near the middle of the transmission with a vacuum hose attached to it.

Transmission wont shift after 2nd gear

I wouldn't think that two transmissions would have the same bad 2-3 shift solenoid . Probably a wiring problem or the driver (transistor ) in side the control module . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Find the PCM - powertrain control module , then looking at a wiring diagram find the circuit from the PCM to the transmission wiring connector . An check the circuit ! Free wiring diagrams at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on transmission/ transaxle , subsystem transmission controls . Click the search button then the blue link .The first diagram shows 2-3 shift solenoid electrical circuit from PCM connector 2 - pin 44 to the trans. connector - C 113 pin B . Check for a open in the wire ,if no open check to see if the PCM driver is supplying a ground . Videos on youtube show how to test this .

I have a 93 fleetwood brougham and thew body control module was just replaced. now my break wont register so that i can shift the car into gear. did changing the module have somthing to do with that?

Very possible.
On most vehicles, the brake pedal switch activates a solenoid to unlock the shifter. But it looks like your car does this thru a module which may be part of the BCM.
Can you set the parking brake, unlock the steering wheel but not turn the ignition on, and take it out of park ??
A mechanic would check for voltage at the brake switch first.

Stuck in overdrive

Overdrive relay usually fixes the problem. With the engine idling quietly, press the OD switch on the shift lever. Do you hear a click? If not, it is probably the relay. Located behind the glove box, passenger side. toward the center console. Pick up a used one on Ebay ( about $10 bucks) and swap it out. Cured my problem right away. Be sure you change the correct relay because Volvo hides several back there. I would buy the spare, then match it with the one now installed. If not the relay, you will need a new solenoid in the transmission. About $200 installed.
