Why not login to mitchells and read all that.
why ask for help, and get wrong answers, or incomplete.
the FSM book covers this job.
per axle type.
is car 2wd or 4wd, is it with TOD?
why do I ask this will the axle are not the same.. see>.
sad no photo of axle posted, and all this goes byebye what's there.?
some axles have inner clips. the Rodeo does.

here is what , one book shows. i think it is wrong, for full coverage

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Rear wheel
    • Disc brake caliper and bracket
    • Disc brake rotor
    • Wheel speed sensor bracket
    • Parking brake cable and bracket
    • Parking brake shoes
    • Axle shaft
    • Snapring and discard it
    • Bearing, press it off the axle shaft with the bearing holder and oil seal

the oem page shows no such clip....
there are 2 seals the inner and outer.
#3 is inner. #4 is the bearing, the keeper is to right of #4.
the last photo here is buying bearing, see that keep K?
if you see that , that means no clips.

k above = keeper. (sleeve holder)under huge force (pressed) on, this device keep the axle wheel/tire from flying off car in wild turns.... see?
and the lack of a rear cover tell you that.
the axles both must be pulled to remove the CARRIER pig.

    id just have.
drained axle ,and the housing end bolts off.
then with my slide hammer on the studs
it be off easy if not it has clips.
take no time to do this.
the with axle out. take it to shop and get them to press a new one on, just did one last month.
and then put the inner seal
use the same magic tool the slide hammer
with the correct end, to pull old seal out.
then use some pcv pipe or the like , matched up to press in the new seal not distorting it.
    like that.

yes the rodeo and trooper run diff, axles
best is to read the FSM book that matches your car,
mitchill diy has this.... not spam, just what most real shops use, (not DIY , real)

Why do I have oil in my breaks of my 1996 Chevy

if your talking about the rear brakes its probably the differential axle seal that is leaking differential oil out of the rear end onto the brake shoes. you will have to pull the rear axle to replace the seal and clean the rear brakes/area with brake cleaner or replace the rear brakes if they are too soaked with brake fluid.

Grease and differential oil inside left rear drum

Not that difficult, raise and support the rear of the truck and remove the wheels. Might as well replace both sides so you know you have new seals, remove the differential cover and drain the fluid. Once differential is opened and cleaned , remove the axle "C" clip that hold the axle in place and slide the axle out. Once the axle is out remove the wheel seal and clean around the area. This would be a good time to replace the wheel bearing too since you have access to them and there not that expensive. Install the new bearing and seal, note make sure you oiled the bearing and seal before installing it back and take care when installing the axle back in and "C: clip. Use RTV silicon gasket maker to seal the differential cover and wheels back on and lower. If your lazy like i am, you can drain the differential fluid and replace it with a 50/50 mix with gear oil and Lucas engine oil additives. That may stop the leak and get you a few more miles. You gear oil is (ford 75W-140) (Dana 80W-90)and the capacity is 2.6 liters and 3.5 liters if you have the 10.25 Ring gear. Good luck and hope this helps.

Leaking left rear wheel seal.

Loosen differential cover and let oil drain. Remove cover, remove E clip lock from axel. Pull axel out. Remove bearing seal. Install new seal and reinstall axel. Reinstall E clip lock and new cover gasket. Fill with 75-90wt gear oil. Now I know that sound pretty straight forward. But there are some things to remember. The E clip lock can be difficult to remove sometimes. The most important thing is the seal, you will need to make sure it gets seated correctly and not torn when installing axel
