I need the part number for the starter motor for my Pajero
I do not have a handbook for my wagon but need a starter motor part number cause my starter was knocked off when I left wagon on nature strip out front of my home.

Hi without seeing (hearing) it sounds like the clutch in the bendix is faulty, as the solenoid will engage the bendix at the same time as connecting feed to the starter motor.
New starter required or a good strip down and rebuild on the solenoid and bendix.
What condition is the ring gear in by the way (Starter Motor removed). David
I cannot find it either and I've replaced many starter motors, water pumps, brakes, radiators in various motor vehicles and I cannot find the starter on a 1997 elantra wagon, 5 spd manual.
I think they bolt up, would probably only need the spiggot bearing from the manual one put into the auto motor, they just press into the centre of the rear crank flange, very cheap part & probably easier to use a new one rather than trying to get the old one out. Have seen sigma engines bolted into these before too, look to bolt straight in.
Hi, there is a little cable that in on the starter motor, probably you have just disconnect it, it happens to my pajero lot of times. look around the starter motor for a cable that is not going somewhere and then locate the little connector on the top and rear part of the starting motor. if this is not the case then try another battery, pretty sure one of the two is the problem.
