SOURCE: how often do I have to change the timing belt

On the 2L (4 cylinder) engine it is recommended to inspect the belt at 37200 miles and replace the belt at 56000 miles.

On the 2.7L (V6) it is recommended to replace the belt at 60000 miles.

And, both these engines are interference engines (meaning if they break a belt, pistons hit and bend valves) which is not a pretty sight...

SOURCE: 2001 hyundai accent 1.5 liter SOHC 12v engine.

With regrets, Not likely, pull the vlave cover and observe the height of the valves, if it is bent it should be not quite as tall as the rest.

SOURCE: noisy water pump pulley, alternator pulley..timing belt tensioner

I have a 1995 xj6....same problem. I replaced the belts, water pump, and the alternator. Still does it. As I play with the tension on the belt (belt that drives water pump, alternator) it goes away and comes back. If I remove the belt, the metal to metal screech stops. I then, with just the belt, turned the main pulley on the front of the engine, and there was the sound! The main pulley has 2 belts that run on it. Also, 2 pulley tracks. They SHOULD move simultaneously and be super meshed. But the rear one moves on its own under tension until it warms up and I guess, the bushing maybe expands. Now.....how do I fix it??????

SOURCE: the timing belt tensioner of

your vehicle doesnt have timing belt, but it has a chain. i think that you have a problem with upper timing chains, not the tensioner. is the car noisy when you rev it up?? kind of a whining noise?? at about 2000-3000rpm's??

I was told that my Tucson 2011 has a timing chain and that it did not need to be replaced at 90K -100K KM unless it'S making noise. Is that right?

Don’t listen to who ever told you that. Your car has a cam belt which NEEDS to be replaced every 90 000km or 5 years, whichever comes first

I'm looking for a 2009 tucson 2.0 4cylinder timing belt

Any auto parts store will have this part and any other engine part you need with a few exceptions. If you want to buy it a greatly reduced cost go to www.rockauto.com. You also need to replace the water pump and timing belt idler and tensioner pulley when you do the change.

My hyundai tucson is making quite a loud rattling sound at low revs but disappears around 2500 revs. it's worse in high gears

It may be worth looking at the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt to see if it hasn't worked loose, the belt may be about 3/4" of slack, which could cause the belt to slap against the inside of the cover at low rpms. It can also slowly shave away the backing of the belt. There could be about half a cup of timing belt dust/shavings collected in the bottom of the lower timing belt cover.

There is a squeeling by the belt/pulley area

It's a loose belt for sure.

If you have a spring loaded tensioner, and the belt has stretched with time, the tensioner will reach the limits of its travel without tensioning the belt enough to prevent that squeal.

If it has an adjustable tensioner, tighten the belt up.

Car is making loud noise & wont idle

your timing marks must be off for the car not to idle. the timing belt is too tight, that is where the noise is coming from. rule of thumb is you should be able to twist the timing belt to just under 90 degrees on the longest section after the tensioner has tensioned and nut on pully it tightened. tensioners usually tension more than they need to.
