89 Mitsubishi Montero It will idle fine but when I give it gas it dies. What should I check?

If you already replaced fuel pump and filter and still no fuel pressure at injectors rail, your problem is more than likely electrical. Check for good power and ground at fuel pump connector. If no power at fuel pump connector, check your fuel pump fuse, relay and wiring for opens(broken) feed wire.

Had a 89 cavalier did that start then die it map sensor. Also check ground wires if the become too corroded they won't start sometimes just run weird

if it goes when giving gas then i'd look at the tps , get the OBD codes read as may just need a reset

check fuel pump pressure- fuel filter --air filter --egr valve if carboned up clean or replace and cat converter feel the exhaust if feels restricted may be clogging up

Check your gas cap and fuel pump. If you can start it after loosening the cap and putting it back on, your fuel pump is starting to die. It can't pull the gas out of the tank. When you release the cap, you let air in and release the vacuum in the tank.

bad gas could have clogged the filter, fuel pump screen, or injectors, other that that check the distributor, plug wires, and spark plugs to ensure they are getting spark. if all thats fine then look at the timing, and if all else fails investigate the sensors

its starving for fuel, have you checked or replaced fuel filter!! if all is ok check fuel pressure regulator.

The fuel pump should be in the 20s. Also it could be losing presure slowly. Leave the fuel pump pressure gage on for at least 2 to 3 hours to see if it is losing pressure - It's a start
