SOURCE: I have a 2008 Dodge Ram that came with the tow

If you have amber signal lights & red brake lights, it's 2 separate circuits. You'll need to buy a small converter that you wire into harness to correct that. Not expensive, try autoparts store or RV/trailer sales, should have them.

SOURCE: Electric trailer brakes are kicking out due to anti-lock brakes

The ABS will shut off the trailer brakes if it detects a problem. It sounds as if the problem is in the ABS control unit, or the trailer brakes may not be grabbing hard enough causing the trailer to push the truck when you are attempting to stop. This sometimes can be corrected by adjusting the gain up on the trailer brakes.

SOURCE: No brakes lights on 2000 Ford F250 after pulling

Depending on where your truck was made you will either find the fuse under the gauge cluster or under the hood in the power distribution box. The fuse for the trailer lights is separate from the fuse for the truck brake-lights.

SOURCE: running trailer lights not working, but brake

Did you check the fuse for the trailer tow adapter paring lamps ? This is a separate fuse powered by a relay, it is not the same circuit as the truck's parking lamps.
This is fuse # F10 & The half size ISO relay, R201 in the fuse panel in the passenger side kick panel.
This is based upon being a new body style 2004, not the 2004 Heritage or Lightning models, those are different fuse & relay locations.

Installation of a trailer brake in my dodge durango

One would assume that Doge believes the Durango can stop 6,200 lbs using the brakes on the Durango.

I wouldn't have thought a braked trailer relied on the vehicle's computer system, but rather on the application of a brake light, or by pressure on the hitch, like the larger boat trailers at my marina.

Having said that, there is indeed a special controller for the Durango. check out the link.

I would take vehicle and trailer to a specialist trailer installer, like Hitch City.

you should have a brown, yellow, green and white for lights and a red and black for the brake electrical which is controlled from the front of the towing vehicle..only the front trailer axle has brakes in it..not all 4 wheels..if yopu connect a spare battery to the trailer brakes they should lock the wheels(or a strong battery charger..)the vehicle should have a auxilary brake control box under the dash within reach of the driver.. this has most of the controls in it..it should alsdo have an operation light on it that lights up when either the control lever is moved or the brake pedal is stepped on..hope this helps..repost findings..

What does tbc fault mean on a 2006 f350

TBC means Trailer Brake Controller fault.Check for moisture/water in the trailer plug connector at the back of your truck. Water/moisture will cause TBC error codes. Look for moisture at all connections to the plug and inside the plug.Trailer brake controller that is built into your dash. If you are hooked up to a trailer it could mean you are losing your connection or ground to the trailer. If you are not connected to a trailer it means there is a problem with your brake controller possibly a short in the wiring caising the fault code. ----- It means either A) you have a bad ground on your trailer. Or B) your cable on your trailer is too short and causing it to pull out of the plug or C) you have a short in the factory trailer harness wiring or the plug is gunked up. --------- get this possibilities checked. It will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

I just installed a brake controller in a 2007 chevy suburban and when i touch the brakes the trailer brakes lock up

you have to adjust the trailer brakes to brake softer when the suburban brakes are applied. depending on the model of trailer brake controller you have the settings should be fairly simple. you might want to try going down by 45% for starters and if it is still too hard go in 5% increments

Trailer brakes not activating very well, I have to have the brake controller turned up to 9.0 to get a good grab on trailer brakes 2005 f250- stock w/ tow command 14'x6' cargo trailer

Most likely the brake pads are bad and the drums need to be turned the magnets are not able to lock the shoes in place. You may want to adjust the brake shoes firs, if the shoes have worn down then it will not brake without an adjustment. Jack up one side at a time and turn the Star up in the slot on the back of the brake plate adjust till you feel the wheel start slightly grabbing back off one click then do other side, see if they work by pulling the trailer and using the electric brake only see if it slows down your truck when you apply the manual brake bar on front of the electric brake. Does it slow you down? Yes? then you got it fixed if no then you will have to remove the drums and see if the surface is uneven where the magnets go. hope this helps let me know if you need more information.

Stuck in park, Land Rover Discovery

Had the same problem with my 03 Disco. Went through the usual, checking the fuses, etc. I went ahead and replaced my break light switch on the brake pedal. $15.00 fix, or I thought so; still had the problem! Took it in for repairs and found out it was fuses after all... To get the parking lock to disengage you need to pull of the housing, which is tough and then press in the locking pin at the base of the shift lever to shift out of park. you can do it with the engine running and it will drive just fine until you put it into park again. Check your brake lights if there is a problem. Could be a sign of the brake switch failure. In my case the lights were out, but a cheap trailer rental did the damage. The short in the trailer blew some fuses and it was a problem that cost me $60.00 at the repair shop....
