I rolled my rear passenger window down on my 5 series and it will not roll back up and it makes clicking noises when i press the button to roll it up. can you please tell me if i can fix it myself or if...

It sounds like your window regulator is bad. Yes you can fix this problem yourself, but if you are not real handy with a wrench i would not advise it. As far as how much BMW will charge you to fix a window regulator I am unsure. I am sorry I can not be of more help. At least you know what the problem is and you can now call your local BMW dealer and ask them how much it will cost to repair. I hope this helps you out.

My 1997 SL2 saturn driver window won't roll down. it's electric and it doesn't make any noise. what do i need to do to fix it?

get a new power window regulator for 90 bucks on ebay, pay a glass shop to install it. it is an electric motor and did 10 years service, you can afford to replace it every decade. i have replaced 3 on a 99SW so consider yourself lucky.

Can a window regulator make a popping sound when rolling the window up or down or what makes that noise?

Usually its not the regulator that makes that noise, it is usually the window trackinside of the door that moves your window up and down. It sometimes gets dirt and stuff inside there and binds up or rusts.

99 Silverado - window will not roll back up

this is a braided cable window lift type regulator. the grinding sound comes from the cable being chewed up by the lift motor after the plastic guides have failed. the regulator is easy to replace, 10 mm nuts (2 hold the glass & 4 or so hold the regulator to the inner door panel). loosen the 2 that hold the doorglass (spreading the saddle type attachment at the bottom of glass). push the glass all the way up and tape into place. remove the remaining nuts that hold the regulator, unplug the motor's electrical connection and install new regulator. remove tape from glass allowing it slide down to a visible place to tighten the glass attachments and install the door panel.

Driver Power Window Won't Go Up

The window regulator has gear teeth on it that connects to a metal track attached to the window glass. The teeth are most likely stripped and the grinding noise is the motor trying to mate to the broken teeth. You need to replace the window regulator and I wouldn't hesitate to replace the motor at the same time. It's a costly fix but worth it to only have to be inside the door once and the motor will have to be removed at the same time the regulator is replaced. If you can reach the glass and pull up on it at the same time you can probably get it to roll up as a temporary fix.

My passenger side window doesn't roll up and it slides down into the door

Before the failure, did it make any knocking or griding noises? When you operate the button does the motor make it's normal noise? Did the window become loose and fall down inside the door abruptly? Some vehicles have issues with the "window regulator". This is the cabling device that hoists and lowers the window on the inside rail. Some automakers use plastic bits to keep the window on the rail. If those become loose or break, the window will fall off the tracks. Continued operation of the window will cause the regulator (cables, gear or motor) to fail. If you want to attempt a DIY fix, remove the door cover (a mechanic will usually call this a door card) and see if the window is off the rails. Good luck.

Window won't go up or down

our window regulator is driven by plastic pulleys and wire cables.  They brake all the time.  You will need a new regulator for the window.  They are not cheap and it takes some kowledge to remove the door panel.  It is not like the olden days There are no tracks to put it back onto anymore.  Bmw has had numeorous failures when going to this design as well as other manufactures
