04 Citroen picasso 2.0 hDi heaters only blowing hot air

I would check for an air leak in the fuel pipe.

white smoke is normally water or too lean
have a compression test done
check/ replace the air filter
check /clean the PCV valve
run the fault codes to check for other possible unit failures

Hi all. Yes this is a very common issue. 2 distinct issues in fact are common with the aircon.
1 you get fan on certain settings only. This is the resistor gone and johnjohn2 has identified the fix for this above. This is usually (although not always not intermittent and so you will usually lose all other settings over night and they don't come back
2 you get no fan activity at all. This starts to happen intermittently and then gets more frequent until the fans won't work at all. The fix for this is expensive through Citroen but cheap if you get the part off ebay. It is the ignition switch cable which has a fault. A very common issue. You need to remove the ignition switch and replace the cable from it. Work is not long but plugs can be tight and fiddly.

follow the big water pipe coming out of radiator going into engine.
the joint of big pipe and engine is connected with thermostat.
