Were is the automatic gear shifter fuse located, i cannot select reverse and or park.

It could be that the linkage has slipped.. are drive, etc. located where they should be on the shifter? i.e., if you place the shifter in Neutral is it in Neutral, or a drive gear? If you slide the shifter a little more towards Park, or Neutral, can you get it to reverse?

Some autos have solenoids/relays, needed to affect the shift on automatics.

Disconnect shift cable from transmission linkage and try to manually put transmission in drive gear ( make sure wheels chocked/park brake on ). If transmission goes into drive gear, suspect a shift cable or shifter assembly problem. If you can't manually shift into drive gear by hand with cable disconnected, suspect internal transmission/shift linkage issue

check the shifter mechanism for binding up and not moving freely into positions. Not starting in park but in neutral indicates something is out of alignment with the shifter. May just need cleaning and a bit of oil/grease to fix.

You have to locate where the park ignition switch is located. Some are on the transmission and some are in the column under the dash. It probably got moved.

more than likely you have a park lock solenoid problem , a lot of them are located on the shifter assembly or attached to a cable coming from the ignition when you press the brake pedal you can hear a click ," locate it" and disconnect the electrical connection to the solenoid

It can be issue with gears or problem with transmission and needs to be rebuilt. Also get the ****** fluid checked. If it's low, then such problems occurs.

The shifter needs to be inspected. If The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.

i have a 2003 chev s-10 pickup with automatic/ 4 cyl I am not able to move shifter from park to drive i believe my shifter cable is binding
gears selection matches fine when shifting. But will not get out park go to reverse or neutral selection only drive, 3rd, 2nd and 1st
do i need to replace shifting linkage cable?

The two only causes I can think of for this IF it is an automatic is either low fluid or shifter alignment. Does the shifter align with the marks for all the forward gears? If you slowly go from park to drive, does reverse engage at any point?

If it is not fluid or shifter, then the transmission needs to be checked. Could be reverse gear or if lucky just the bands are not catching for reverse.

There is usually a switch mounted on the transmission. Perhaps it has gotten loose or something is worn or broken. Your gear selection goes park, reverse, neutral and drive. Since the switch is not coming on from park to reverse but it kinda does if you go past reverse (neutral) then it sounds like the switch has moved from its original place. That's why I think it is loose. Good Luck!
