now the past couple weeks,
after the car sets for a few hours, it turns over, and takes several turns before it starts. It runs great, idles great, has zip. getting the fuel line replaced tomorrow, could there be anything else?

If you are trying to get the car to start easier you still may be venting through the gas line or gas cap. The new fuel line may solve the problem. What you still can do is replace the gas cap.
Both Autozone and O'reilly will test your car free. The system on an 87 model may not generate a trouble code on your dash for the problem you have. But the test gauge may show it.
If the car has zip the fuel pump may be okay. If the car fast idles briefly when cold, the cold start system is working. If the car does not idle up, the cold start system is not resetting.

No spark at the coil replace all spark plug wire and coil wire but start with fuel pump first it wont start anyways without fuel id look into a new cap and rotar with the plug wires might get lucky and find a distributor at a wreckers for the same price as cap and rotar

I had one of these cars; when this happened to me I replaced the distributor and the ECU module. The new distributor took care of the problem. Good luck!

I have a 87 2.0 camry when driving down the road it will go to spiting and suttering and die has set up for awhile just put new timeing belt & pump distributor plugs coil & spark ignighter in

If it has set up for too long I would try filling up with premium fuel. I am not sure if that has points but if it does under the distributor cap the points can become corroded and make the motor spit and sputter. Otherwise from the camry's I have seen that have sat always ended up having fuel problems. Hope this helps!

Car starts rough, stops running after warmed up (lower RPMs)

Check your gas filter, or your egr, and vacuum hoses.

Running Problems

I had this problem for years when my 87 was only a few years old. Even though it was tested over and over, the distributor ended up being the problem. I got lucky when a friend saw it posted in a tom and ray column in their local newspaper. It was for a corolla, but same year. I told my mechanic to replace it. He said I didn't need one, I insisted he replace it anyway and I've NEVER had the problem again.
Hope it fixes yours.
