SOURCE: top will not go up

apply 12 volts to the top motors independantly after you check fuses of course.. see if the motors are bad. they usually go out at the same time.. not too bad to replace.

SOURCE: recommended oil for a 1988 mazda rx7

Any synthetic oil is ok... just follow mfg recommended oil weights.
One note though... adding synthetics to a dirty engine will only lead to dirty and VERY expensive synthetic oil.
Best to do a 3 change flush with standard oil and Rislone or another brand of engine flush. 3 change, meaning add Rislone, drain and replace 3 times. Driving at least 500 miles between oil changes. This will prep your engine to accept the very expensive yet very good synthetic oil while minimizing contaminants that would reduce the benefits of syn oil.
Hope this helps M8

EGR Valve keeps blowing out and no power

EGR valve blow-out can be caused by a clogged catalytic converter. A clogged cat. converter will cause pressure to back up in the engine. A test to perform is remove the front oxygen sensor from the exhaust to see if the engine runs better. Removing the oxygen sensor will relieve the pressure if, in fact the cat. converter is clogged. Another cause for EGR blow-out could be that the timing has jumped. The timing can be checked to diagnose this issue.

It will definitely fit and function. The 84 carb has a couple of extra emissions bits but that can be sorted out no problem.

Mazda rx7 93 looses power @ 7k+

Look for restrictions in the intake air and exhaust systems. Check fuel pressure and delivery (fuel filter/pump). Check the ignition system as well. If the engine has a lot of miles, you may be experiencing combustion seal wear. These are amazing engines when they work correctly! Good luck!

Hi im david i have a mazda 323 1989 1.5b5 engin.ive had it in two garages and two autoelectric and they cant fix it.it is now 32 deg out of it''s timing with top vacum hose off but is running fine how can...

David, I've found that if the Ignition timing is off considerably & the engine is running, then usually the engines Valve timing is off somewhat & it is compensating.

I would suggest verifying that the Valve Timing is correct first then go to the Distributor to verify that when the engine is at TDC, the distributor rotor is pointing at the #1 spark plug wire on the dist cap.

Beyoond that and maybe first even, make sure the exhaust isn't restricted, that causes the engine to run under completely different circumstances & alters every vacuum setting you will see.

Hope that this leads you in the right direction.

good luck

1985 rx7 13b will not hold idle

A large rubber hose feeds air to the large block with "RE-EGI" cast into it. Between that intake hose and the RE-EGI block, called the dynamic chamber, is the throttle valve. You can adjust the idle speed by adjusting a screw in the top of the throttle valve to 800 rpm.
