1997 Honda CRV. It just died, won't start but will turn over. I checked all fuses and they are good.

It could be so many things. You really need an auto electrician with a Pro grade scan tool computer to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes. It could be fuel pump or any one of the sensors. It could even be a broken camshaft valve timing belt and it is an interference engine.

Between 1997 and 2001 Honda CRV was equipped with a timing belt under the hood. However, starting in the 2002 model year, Honda swapped out the timing belt in favour of the much more durable timing chain. To this day the CRV is still made with a timing chain.

Timing belt or chain

If there is a plastic cover on the front of the engine it has a timing belt, a chain required a lot of oil so the cover would be metal and well sealed

Does my Honda CR_V Executive 2002 have a timing belt or chain & when should it be changed

It has a timing Belt and it should be changed not later than 70.000 km. If you are the original owner then you know the actual maint. on the vehicle. If you purchased it 2nd hand depending upon where you purchased it... there could be a new belt installed. An old belt will be dirty in the ribbed tooth area and the outside of the belt will show wear on the belt part number label. A new belt the tooth area will be clean and the outside of the belt will be almost glossy while the belt number label will not be worn.

When should you change the timer belt for a 2001 cr-v honda

You mean Timing Belt??? at 105K Miles. Be sure to replace the cam and crank seals and the water pump. And adjust the valves. I would recommend the dealer or a shop that does mostly HONDA.

Does my 2003 crv have a timing chain or a timing belt ?

It will have both. The timing belt is the rubber belt that you can see connected to all the pulleys. The timing chain is usually covered up and is located on the opposite side of the engine from the timing belt
