There are two or three things that could cause this. Put kitchen roll across the dashboard and below the sun roof. Turn a hose on the car for 15minutes and take a look inside. If paper is absolutely soaked, repeat but for a shorter time until you identify the source. The other likely fault will require looking under the bonnet. If you look near the wiper mechanism, there are small well areas on each side that have a drain tube at the bottom. If the tube is blocked, water will flow around the pipe and into the car. The most likely thing is one of these drain tubes is split, or has come off. This is not the easiest piece to fix, but if you are confident removing other parts for access it is cheap.
I would have the windshield checked for leakage.

The sunroof drainage gets blocked.
your footwells will fill with water - even under your seats right to the back seats footwells
See two 10mm holes in front sides when sunroof is open.
a) push a flexible cable down from the top - it comes out just behind the front wheels. (use electric three core cable - or TV aerial cable - a hanger is too short) - you need about a metre and a half)
b) remove the inner mudgaurd behind the front wheels (2 screws) you will see the end of the plastic drainage pipes - remove the blocked black rubber cup at the end of these - why they are there is anybody's guess)

It sounds like you may have a blocked drain in the evaporator box. This is where the heater core and evaporator are located.
If you look under the vehicle about where the heater is located, you should see a small tube sticking down ( plastic or rubber ) this should be he drain.
You can squeese the tube open and see if it will drain, If not it may be clogged up with dirt and debris that may require the box to be removed and cleaned.
Check the air inlet, usually located in front of the windsheild, just under the wipers for debris. Keep this area clear. If it has a lot of leaves or other things around it, it can cause water to build up and flood the evaporator box, as well as get down inside.
You may need to take this to a shop that can put it on a lift and get at the drain from the underside, they may be able to clear it without too much troble

the vehicle is old enough that the fan blower motor sounds like it is in need of replacing. when you hit the dash it causes the brushes in the motor to contact enough to start the electrical connection, it may stop when it gets hot, or is turned off. the ticking sound is more than likely the bearings wore in the motor enough to cause the cage fan to touch the housing enough to cause the sound.

there is either a torn vapor barrier on the passenger door or the sunroof drains are blocked

open bonnet, look to rear of engine bay, below where wipers are etc, on both sides you will see flaps fitted, these often get clogged with leaves/dirt. stick a hose down them, and hose out.
I myself on a rx4 megane, had to remove wipers, the black plastic between bonnet and windscreen, and then it became obvious. I think you can do it without the steps, if you use a torch, and your hands to follow the side of engine bay back to engine firewall, that is where the holes are… p.s. there is a vent from the car air conditioner, on the front engine firewall, if this becomes blocked, that will also cause your ingress of water. if you look under, and up in the passenger footwell (RH drive) cars, you will see the plastic housing of the aircon unit, exiting through firewall. open bonnet, look down a third of way across and halfway down, and you will see 90 degree black rubber pipe elbow, thats the drain, you can pull it off, and check condition of rubber flap valve at its other end…. easy peasy, once you know
