How do I remove a rear hub from a 1992 Land cruiser ute so I can replace two wheel studs.

Look inside were the axle came out and you will see a large nut that has a lock tab on one of the nut flats. You tap that lock tab away from the flat with a small chisel or a large screwdriver. That will let you to be able to turn that nut and remove it and the tab washer behind it. Then wriggle the hub and a bearing will come out, then you should be able to pull on the hub and it will come of.

Broken wheel stud right rear wheel with drum brakes on 2006 dodge caravan. Cant get the new stud to go in. I dont have enough room for the stud to go in. Do i need to remove the wheel bearing? What will be...

To remove the broken stud use a punch and drive it out with a hammer back towards the backing plate. BY turning the axle around you will find a position or you may have to remove a brake shoe to help with the installation of the new stud. When you have it in place use larger nuts and pull it into place with the stud nut.. You may not be able to simply put the stud straight in but may have to start a bit of an angle and turn the axle to allow the stud to feed in.

How do you replace tire bolts and lugnuts

YOU DON'T SAY WHAT TYPE OF VEHICLE YOU OWN. SO , THIS IS A RATHER GENERIC TYPE ANSWER. THE HUB OR AXLE SHAFT HAS THE WHEEL STUDS PRESSED INTO IT. THE LUG NUTS FASTEN TO THEM. TO REPLACE A BROKEN STUD YOU MUST USE A PRESS OR A DRIFT PIN AND A HAND SLEDGE HAMMER TO KNOCK OUT THE BROKEN STUD. YOU CAN REPLACE THE BROKEN STUD THE SAME WAY. THE PROBLEM IS YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REMOVE THE AXLE OR THE HUB, OR THE DISC TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE STUD. AN EASY TASK IT YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TOOLS. IF NOT JUST TAKE IT TO A REPUTABLE TIRE STORE AND THEY PROBABLY WILL REPLACE IT CHEAPER THAN YOUR LOCAL GARAGE WILL. BE PREPARED TO SHELL OUT $45.00 TO REPLACE A $3.00 STUD.

Need to remove rear axle to replace tire studs

You don't need to remove the axle. Remove the rotor or drum. pound out the broken studs with a hammer. Install the new stud into the hole. Use a wheel nut and some washers to pull the new stud into place. They also make a stud installer tool which makes it a little easier.

How do i replace broken rear wheel studs on 98 malibu

to start with, take wheel and brake hub off of car. now you can see the studs, use a punch to drive out old stud if need be. but support backside of axle plate so it does not break! when stud is out, put in new one from the backside of axle plate. to pull it in place, i use a wheel lug nut, turn it so flat side is down against plate. draw the stud in with a wrench or socket. if you can not get stud in, just remove one of the brake shoes for more room. have a good day !! they sell the studs at any auto parts store.

I need to replace left front lugnut stud. what do i need to remove to get the outer part of the rotor off to replace the broken stud?

The rotor is bolted to the wheel hub from the backside. To get at those bolts you will need to remove the CV axle from the wheel hub. If you've never removed a CV axle before I suggest getting a repair manual for the vehicle (from an auto-parts store) or take it to a mechanic that you trust.

Broken wheel stud

Unless you hit a curb or something you have bumper to bumper warranty for 3yrs.36 k miles. If not then you can remove the wheel and brake caliper and rotor. Then pound the stud out with a hammer and reinstall the new one.Use a socket or some type of spacer and put on new stud once you have put the stud through the axle.Install the new nut on and start tightening til the stud is seated on the axle.Reinstall the wheel and torque to specs.Depending on type of wheel could be 80-100 ft.lbs.Hope this helps.Good luck.

How to replace lug studs on 2002 chrysler town

I'll try to help you. If you are having trouble with 3 out of 5 studs on one wheel you may want to go to an autoparts store or Salvage yard to look at the whole hub. Usually a press is used to remove the bolts so you would be taking off the hub anyway. When you pay for 3 bolts and labor you may be better off in a Salvage yard or parts place for a different hub. The rear hub on front wheel drive cars is like a trailer axle. Much simpler to remove mounting bolts and press in new bolt. But if rear has differential(rear wheel drive) it has an axle shaft. Would be easier to grind and drill out broken stud on car. You can draw new bolt into place by placing bolt through a socket and use the wheel nut to draw the bolt into the hub.

Wheel Stud

If you remove the wheel drum you can knock out the broken stud. It is pressed into the hub. Take the hub to aan auto parts store ( so you get the same size stud) and buy a new stud. put the stud into the hole in the hub. When you remount you remount the tire and tighten the lug nuts that will pull the new stud up tight in the hub.

Hope this helps

Good luck Loringh
