adjust the latch so that the catch will lock over properly. You may need to use a round bar ( screwdriver blade ) Place it under the latch and while pressing on the release button pull the latch out to the open position. The latch may be 1/2 closed before the boot is put down and the latch will not go any further
there is whats called a trunk lock mechanism that is simmaler to what is in you doos to keep them shut there is a plastic tab that keeps the trunk closed the tap has brokern find you local chevy dealer and pick up the trunk latch should not be any more than $30 usd and labor to put it in will run about $50 usd
If there are no restrictions in the trunk ,try to turn key to release already trunk latch. may need to put screwdriver in latch to help release. sometimes when you shut trunk latch will go to locking position and all you need to do is open latch with the key
do you mean it won't close....or it won't stay closed ? check the latch inside the trunk....sometimes it may be in the locked position already....in which case the ring that goes into it can not.....sometimes just "unlocking it with the key will reset the latch into the open position....and a bit of oil on the moving parts can work...
You may have inadvertently locked the latch when putting the plastic piece back on look at the latch mechanism and where the latch locks on the bar put a screw driver in the latch mechanism and then operate the lat to open it should open up then try shutting the trunk lid do it with the plastic piece off first to be sure thats the problem because if you have the plastic piece on you may make it nearly impossible to open it up. Then if it works put the plastic piece back on then make sure the latch is open and then close it does it work? if yes you did it if not write back to me for more help. Thanks for using fix-ya.
Try a screw driver, and release the trunk release at the same time and unsnap the latch, the latch thinks it is closed, because the latch never opened back up to allow the striker to go in it and trigger the latch to close, the latch is in closed mode, you will have to manually unlatch the latch sort of speak.
Yes if your lock actuator is not stuck on unlock.Try unpluging the harness to rhe electric lock, and see if it will lock and stay locked using the key.If ti works then your okay.if you still have the problem then your tounge that holds the trunk down needs to be replaced.
I have this problem now i got my trunk to lock by going in the trunk and removing the wire from the hook that was keeping it loose. Now i can lock my trunk but i am still looking for a way to get in my gas tank. Help me please if you can.
when you pulled the trunk down on the firnature it could have set the latch without it being shut look inside where the latch is put your key in the trunk lock and turn it, using you finger or somethin smaller you should be able to pull the latch back out and the trunk should close
