How do I get the truck to start now? Could I have shorted something out by messing with blend door actuator?

I have recently looked into fixing the clicking sound under my glove box that last for about 20 second upon key turn on and off. I have read to try and unplug the wiring harness from the blend door actuator and I tried it and it fixed my problem but when it is unplugged the truck wouldn't start. so I plugged it back up and tried to start it and it fired back up so I left it running and unplugged it to see if it would kill the motor and it still ran, but after I turned it off and plugged it back up the truck still wouldn't start. The problem is that now i am not getting gas to the throttle body because there is no gas getting to the TBI and when i directly put gas in the throttle body it will start and then stall. Could messing with the wires on the blend door actuator have shorted something out and thus cause it not to start?

If it starts and runs when you add gas manually then you have a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel pump relay and check the fuel pressure if the relay is fine. You might also have someone turn the key in a quiet environment while you have your ear close to the gas tank area and see if you hear the fuel pump run.

I did get under the truck and i do hear the fuel pump kicking on and i do not have the tools to test the relay but when i run the ignition i hear the relays working it seems like

At this point if it were me, I'd put a fuel pressure gauge on it. It's possible Autozone "might" have one on their loaner tool program. I don't know if your vehicle has a test port or not. I suspect not. You may have to pick up an adapter. I have a link for you on GM TBI testing.

How do you replace the blend door actuator in a 1997 Mercury Cougar?

  1. Locate the blend door actuator. The actuator is located behind the dashboard, usually on the passenger side. It is a small, rectangular motor with a wiring harness and a linkage arm.
  2. Disconnect the battery. Before beginning any work on the electrical system, disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical shorts or other accidents.
  3. Remove the dashboard panel. In order to access the blend door actuator, the dashboard panel may need to be removed. Consult the vehicle's repair manual for specific instructions on how to remove the panel.
  4. Remove the old blend door actuator. Disconnect the wiring harness and the linkage arm from the old blend door actuator. Remove any mounting screws or bolts that secure the actuator to the dashboard.
  5. Install the new blend door actuator. Install the new blend door actuator in the same location as the old actuator. Secure the actuator with any mounting screws or bolts. Connect the wiring harness and the linkage arm to the new actuator.

Only blowing cold air

Blend door likely stuck or the actuator broke.
Look under the dash first move your temperature from hot to cold and see if you see something moving if not Remove your glove compartment (usually only 4 screws) and look to the left side for something moving and if you do is still attached to a rod which would move the blend door.
Some cars you can't see the actuator at all, which means you have to remove the dashboard, not a job for someone that doesn't know what he / she is doing.
A mechanic fix cost anywhere from $400 to $900.

Hi,
This may be similar to what I just fixed on an '00 dodge:
http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/showthread.php?t=89711

Accessing the Integrated Diagnostic System:

Procedure for Automatic Temp Control (ATC) equipped vehicles:

With the engine ON and the vehicle stopped set the temp to 75*F. Next hold down the Floor, Mix and Defrost buttons until the ATC display begins to flash. While the display is flashing, the system will run it's tests and calibrations.

When the display stops flashing, the tests and calibrations are complete.

The ATC display can only display one error code at a time. Any stored codes can be scrolled through by pressing the Panel mode button once for each code. DO NOT press any other button or you will have to start the test over. Note the codes and refer to the list below to determine what system is malfunctioning.

List of Climate Control DTCs:
23: Blend door actuator feedback failure (bad servo)
24: Mode door actuator feedback failure (bad servo)
25: Ambient temp sensor failure
26: ATC In Car thermister failure (ATC only, bad ATC head or ATC head disconnected while battery is connected)
27: ATC in car sensor failure (ATC only)
31: Recirculation door actuator stalled (stuck door or bad servo)
32: Blend door actuator stall failure (stuck door or bad servo)
33: Mode door actuator stall failure (stuck door or bad servo)
34: Engine temperature message not received (ATC only, bad ATC head or bus failure)
35: Evaporator sensor failure
36: ATC control communication failure (bad ATC head or bus failure)
37: Blend door actuator output shorted to battery (bad servo or wiring fault)
38: Blend door actuator output shorted to ground (bad servo or wiring fault)
39: Mode door actuator output shorted to battery (bad servo or wiring fault)
40: Mode door actuator output shorted to ground (bad servo or wiring fault)
41: Recirculation door actuator output shorted to battery (bad servo or wiring fault)
42: Recirculation door actuator output shorted to ground (bad servo or wiring fault)
43: Common door shorted to battery (probable wiring fault, could be a servo that failed in an odd manner)
44: Common door shorted to ground (probable wiring fault, could be a servo that failed in an odd manner)
45: A/C control blend door input open or shorted with respect to ground (MTC only, wiring fault or bad servo)
46: A/C control blend door shorted to battery (MTC only, wiring fault or bad servo)
47: A/C switch failure (MTC only)
48: A/C control mode door input shorted to ground (MTC only, wiring fault or bad servo)
49: A/C control mode door input shorted to battery (MTC only, wiring fault or bad servo)

Mode door actuator

Hopefully it's the switch behind the dash. I would try replacing your selector switch before messing with the blend door. You have to pull the dash out to access the blend door

We own a 2005 Kia Sedona that has worked well for a long time. However, recently the heating has stopped working and blows cold air.

Yes the fix is to remove the dash from the car and replace the blend door and the blend door actuator.

I have a 1997 Ford Expedition that the heat in the front is only blowing cold, but the heat in the back works propper. I was told that it might be the blend door actuator but I can't find it. I need...

Looks like it sits on top of the heater housing left of the blower. You may be able to see it by removing the glove box. These things tend to strip their plastic gears. If you heard a lot of clicking before it failed, that is what happened.

I have a 2002 f150 with a 4.6. my heat quit working recently so i replaced the thermostat, blend door actuator and flushed the coolant. All wasgood until i flushed the coolant....shortly after i flushed it...

Did you flush the coolant with a kit? Did you back flow the coolant? And one more question. Did you flush it with water hose or something with more pressure?

Heating system only blows out hot air through the vents

I would look at the air blend doors first, it sound like they are not working or your control in the dash is not working send a signal to them. they work by changing the air from hot to cold or in between.
