Lower Intake:

1. Use a skin coat of RTV silicone on both sides of the water passage ports (outer most holes) and put the new lower intake gaskets into place
2. Hand tighten the 13mm head intake bolts and Torque the bolts , starting from the center and working your way out in a circular pattern
3. Torque these bolts in a few small increments until they have reached 250 inch pounds of torque.

5. When installing the intake air plenum , be sure to catch the four center bolts and the two side bolts (stiffener brackets) before tightening , The center bolts should be torqued to 250 inch pounds .The fuel rail bolts should be torqued to 100 inch pounds

starting at the middle bolt and go directly across then criss cross the pattern like you would tightening wheel nuts, towards the outside(end) bolts. if this is a plastic upper intake the torque should be around 15ft lbs if its metal around 25ft lbs.

It is criss cross from front to back around 15 foot pounds so snugging them with a ratchet should do the trick

Upper intake manifold with a new gasket on the lower intake manifold and torque the bolts, in sequence, to: 105 inch lbs. (12 Nm)

The intake is not a high torque part, it is usually just put down with normal ratchet tightness and alternating sequence of the bolts. You tighten stuff more than torque specs anyway by hand, you don't even know it. the only thing I have ever used my torque wrench on is the heads, and sometimes I don't even use it there. I always go back to check later anyway. Hope this helps.

(step 1 ) the torque specs for the heads are---1998 through 2001 are 37 foot lbs. ( step 2) rotate an additional 90-degrees (1/4 turn). intake manifold bolts ( lower ) step 1-- 62 in-lbs, step 2--115 in-lbs. intake manifold bolts/studs ( upper ) 18 ft-lbs. this is for the 3.1 v-6, have a good day!
