You want to have approximately 0.001-inch of bearing clearance for every inch of journal diameter. So for a 2.100-inch rod journal, it’s always a good idea to shoot for 0.0021 or 0.0022 bearing clearance.Too little bearing clearance can mean a spun bearing, we always aim to wind up too high rather than too low.

If the crank has not been turned and is stock with no wear I would go with standard bearings. With wear you may be able to do the .0010 over. If the crank has been resurfaced then I would suggest measuring the diameter with a caliper or request the resurface specs from the machine shop.

To be completely safe I would measure the diameter of the crank. You may be able to rent the tool from Autozone or Orielly's Auto.

I hope you realize now that slapping a set of rod bearings into an engine fixes nothing. Nothing short of a complete rebuild will resolve your issues. Everything has to be measured and refitted. The block, crank and heads will have wear that needs to be dealt with.

Have it scanned from any parts place for free and also ask them for a print out of the location.

sound like bad axle shafts..commen on front wheel drive models....i had the same rumble when taking off from stop or climbing hills

To do that properly you will have to pull the motor out, remove crank, check to see if you need standard or oversized bearings and do all new gaskets.

connecting rod = first pass 18 ft lbs , second pass 75 degrees

main bearings = first pass 37 ft lbs , second pass 77 degrees
