1997. Why doesn't door open and close completely and doesn't latch?

You may have moved the hinge towards the front. Some door hatch hook that is on the door post is adjustable.

The door on my 2005 Ford Freestyle will not latch what can I do

depends if its not lined up with the post upon closing or is the latch it self not latching, take screw driver and trigger the latch to lock position then use the handle to open it if that is working then check lineup on the post and see if the door hinges are worn allowing the door to drop if so replace the hinge pins.

How do you adjust front door hinge gaps

on that old of a car, you should be able to just loosen the bolts that attach the door to the hinges. however if the hinges are worn out, then you are fighting a loosing battle. need new hinges, or at least new pins before you can properly adjust them. you may also have to adjust the position of the latching post at the rear of the door, so it will strike the post properly.

Inside lights will not turn off. hatch lock is not working either. light turned on after opening the hatch n hasnt shut off since

Is there something that could have fallen in the hinge or door jam that may be preventing the hatch from closing properly? Check near the latch? Could the latch have somehow closed on the hatch while it was still open, and now can't close?
You'd have to take a screw driver, release the latch (lift up the handle, rotate the key) and then "move" the latch to the "open" position and then try closing the hatch again.
Hope this helps!

Doors where hard to close without the weather door seals. But with them on they will not close. The body plates more but not enuff on the cab? I need HELP.

Hi!!
The doors Hinges or Striker need to be adjusted to make up for the weatherstrip thickness. To do this, loosen the hinge-to-door bolts for lateral adjustment only. Loosen the hinge-to-body bolts for both lateral and vertical adjustment.
FRONT DOORS 1kbron_78.gif
REAR DOORS

BEFORE YOU START:
  • Determine which hinge bolts are to be loosened and back them out just enough to allow movement.
  • To move the door safely, use a padded pry bar. When the door is in the proper position, tighten the bolts to 19-25 ft. lbs. (26-35 Nm) and check the door operation. There should be no binding or interference when the door is closed and opened.
  • Door closing adjustment can also be affected by the position of the lock striker plate. Loosen the striker plate bolts and move the striker plate just enough to permit proper closing and locking of the door.
TO ADJUST ON A: F-150, F-250, Expedition and Navigator
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT
  • Loosen the front door hinge to front door bolts.
  • Adjust the front door alignment.
  • Tighten the front door hinge to front door bolts to 19-25 ft. lbs. (26-35 Nm).

FRONT DOOR FORE AND AFT ADJUSTMENT Check the rear door hinge adjustment before adjusting the front door hinge.
  • Remove the front fender.
  • Loosen the front door hinge to body bolts.
  • Adjust the front door alignment to specification.
  • Tighten the front door hinge to body bolts.
  • Install the front fender.

  • Loosen the bolts only enough to allow for slight door movement.
  • Carefully close and adjust the door until flush with the adjacent body panels.
  • Carefully open the door and tighten the bolts.
  • Re-install and adjust the door striker.
  • Check the door for proper operation and alignment.
STRIKER ADJUSTMENT Mark the position of the striker before loosening.

Door adjustment for a 96 f350 dropped about 1/2"

Here's the solution: You might want to park it under a tree and tie a rope to the door to pull it up when loosened.

Fig. 2: Rear door hinge adjustment, F-350 Crew Cab 84920002.gif
NOTE: Loosen the hinge-to-door bolts for lateral adjustment only. Loosen the hinge-to-body bolts for both lateral and vertical adjustment.
  1. Determine which hinge bolts are to be loosened and back them out just enough to allow movement.
  2. To move the door safely, use a padded prybar. When the door is in the proper position, tighten the bolts to 19–25 ft. lbs. (25.5–34.5 Nm) and check the door operation. There should be no binding or interference when the door is closed and opened.
  3. Door closing adjustment can also be affected by the position of the lock striker plate. Loosen the striker plate bolts and move the striker plate just enough to permit proper closing and locking of the door.

How to adjust the passenger door on 95 nissan pathfinder

There are hing bolts to adjust the gap in the door on the top and bottom, loosen them and move the door into position and then close and make sure the gap is even all around. If the door is not latching properly then there are two star screws in the door jam you can loosen and move the latch hook out and tighten back down to get the door to latch tighter, however if the plastic is wore off the striker plate it needs to be replaced or it will rattle no matter what you do.

Driver's side door not latching / closing

pull the outside handle and unlatch the latching assembly by hand by insertins a screwdriver where the striker would normally be if the door were closed - and pry out.

You can adjust the striker by loosening the bolts, and moving it in toward the cabin.

If the door itself is droopy, adjustments are made by the hinge by loosening the bolts and lifting up or down.

Multiple attempts will be necessary to get it just right.

Dont get frustrated if it doesnt fit properly in the 1st or second attempt.
Good Luck!!
