Always stamped into the engine block on a flat milled section near the upper edge below the cylinder head.

Where do i find the engine number for a 1996 hyundai lantra

If you look at your 8th digit in your VIN or Vehicle Identification number.. (counting from the left) this will tell you your engine type for the vehicle. You can use this number to look online, a local parts house can tell you or.. You can shoot me a message back with the number and I will send you the info..

Best of Luck to you..

Hyundai Lantra 1994

After some extensive research, it looks as though they have two totally different body styles as well as a few others. The differences are as follows:

Lantra: 1.5L
Elantra: 1.6L or 1.8L engine sizes

Lantra: 2,336 lbs
Elantra: 2,500lbs Weight

Lantra: 11.89 gal
Elantra: 13.7 gal fuel capacity

those are only three differences that i have put up among the many that i have found. Lantra's also seem to be one of those out of states type cars that you find in Australia mostly. The body is also totally different.
