Hi Evan, I tried to paste the info in this post but it leaves the simple pictures out. Send me your email and I'll forward a PDF of the info I got on Chilton manual website.
my email [email protected]

It looks like a shaft (equally spaced 3-4inches) mounted in the top of the brake pedal leaver holds it in place and mid span down is a stud or bolt looking protrusion that connects to the rod the actuates the hydraulic clutch

Hydraulic Clutch

The clutch release system consists of the following components:
  • A master cylinder with a reservoir
  • A switch
  • An actuator cylinder connected to hydraulic tubing
With depression of the clutch pedal, the clutch master cylinder becomes pressurized from the force of the push rod into the master cylinder. This forces hydraulic fluid into the tubing from the master cylinder to the concentric slave cylinder. The slave cylinder then engages by pushing the release bearing into the diaphragm spring and releasing the clutch.
A hole in the cowl panel accommodates the master cylinder. A quick connect coupling helps route the hydraulic tubing. The concentric slave cylinder is inside the transmission and on the input bearing retainer. The hydraulic control system can be replaced without having to gain access to the clutch system internal components, simply engage the quick connect coupling mounted through the transmission housing.
No adjustments to the clutch system are necessary. As the clutch wears, the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir changes to compensates for clutch wear. A new system will have fluid in the reservoir.
An electrical switch on the push rod has two functions: One function is a clutch interlock, ensuring the engine does not start unless the clutch pedal is engaged (positioned to the floor). The second function is to cut off the cruise-control system (if so equipped) when the clutch pedal is engaged.

Sorry no diagram. But here is how it works. In the start position(Power) the wire goes to the start fuse, from the fuse it goes to the clutch pedal switch. Push the pedal and it goes to the starter relay. On the other end is ground. If it is good it pulls the relay closed. On the closed end is battery power to the starter.

Clutch pedal diagram

go to the wreckers and get all the parts out of a manual cab the same as yours . You will need a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder as well as the piping from one to the other ( get new master/ slave cylinder as it will reduce the possibility of hydraulic problems . If it is going to be a cable clutch then get everything associated with a cable including the correct throw out lever in the bell housing.

Have you checked the pedal spring?
Most cars but not all have a pedal hanger spring, this keeps the pedal up and off the floor even if not connected to anything.
These springs do break and when they do the symptoms you report are the outcome.
If you get on the floor and look up at your pedal hangers, and with your free hand check the pedal operation/swing. If your vehicle has this spring you will see it as you look up, if the spring is broken it is a simple job to replace it.

Some vehicle have a spring like this:

While other vehicles have a spring like this:

Manual Transmition, While driving the clutch pedal went right to the floo and stayed down. I lifted the pedal with my foot and with a light touch i pushed down on the pedal and it it began a grinding sound...

the slave cylinder on the trans works just like a brake cylinder, when fluid pressure is applied it flows into the cylinder and pushes against a clutch fork which engages a throw out bearing against the clutch pressure plate fingers. a couple things could have happened. I think your trans is fine but im sure the clutch fork or the pressure plate broke. I'm sorry but the trans is gonna have to be pulled. best wishes

How to repair clutch pedal safety start switch on Ford Truck F550, 1999

Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) Switch
The clutch pedal position switch (CPP) is controlled by the clutch pedal. Depressing the clutch pedal manually closes the CPP switch and allows engine cranking. The CPP switch will also deactivate the speed control system.

I have a 1998 accord 4cyl coupe manual trans. The

A clutch issue youtend to have more of an engagement problem with 1st and reverse gear for a small time period before you notice other gears. You want to check the clutch hydrolic system for any leaks(clutch slave at transmission, clutch master, which you look for leakage on interior above clutch pedal)and at fluid resevoir.you also want to double check condition of trans fluid. strongly recommend using only HONDA BRAND MANUAL TRANS. FLUID when doing maintinance, fluid should be replaced every 30k on this car.The Honda brand fluid is like night and day on these cars,it WILL make a difference in shifting!!TRust Me on this point! Sorry now back to your main clutch issue, when driveing and you go to shift gears and normally notice grinding, with clutch pedal in shft out of gear and before engageing it into next gear do a double pump of clutch pedal then see if when continuing to next gear if it engagees smoother.if so you know you have without a dout a clutch pressure plate/disc problem. I can tell you that in twenty years the only manual transmissions themselves that ever had problems were due to outside influences(gear oil in transmission, improper driveing, etc.)let me know what you find and we can go from there..JOEL
