Hello I have problem with scania r420 auto manual gearbox gear 1is normal gear2 is not going gear3 normal gear4 is not going gear5 normal UpTo gear12

If you are experiencing issues with the gearbox on your Scania R420 where gear 1 and 3 are working normally, but gear 2 and 4 are not engaging properly, it is likely that there is a problem with the gearbox itself. Here are a few potential causes for the issue and steps you can try to troubleshoot:
  1. Synchronizer ring: The synchronizer ring is responsible for coordinating the speed of the gear with the speed of the engine. If the synchronizer ring is worn or damaged, it may prevent gear 2 and 4 from engaging properly.
  2. Clutch: The clutch is responsible for connecting and disconnecting the engine from the gearbox. If the clutch is worn or damaged, it may prevent gear 2 and 4 from engaging properly.
  3. Linkage: The linkage is responsible for connecting the gear lever to the gearbox. If the linkage is worn or damaged, it may prevent gear 2 and 4 from engaging properly.
  4. Control module: The control module is responsible for controlling the gearbox. If the control module is malfunctioning, it may prevent gear 2 and 4 from engaging properly.
  5. Check the oil level and condition: Make sure that the oil level and condition are correct. Low oil level or dirty oil can cause damage to the gearbox and prevent gear 2 and 4 from

Can you change transmission fluid on a manual transmission if so how

'Transmission Fluid' in a manual transmission vehicle is called 'gearbox oil'. On the gearbox, there is a drain plug in the bottom somewhere and a fill plug on the side. You drain, clean the drain plug, replace the copper washer and put the drain plug back in. Fill the gearbox with oil until the oil starts to weep out of the filling hole. Replace the fill plug.

year make model change gearbox oil

Please include 'year make model' in all questions in this category. Thanks.

Manual gearboxes usually require a gearbox oil change every 30,000 to 50,000 mi (48,000 to 80,000 km). Automatic gearboxes usually have gear oil change intervals of between 60,000 to 100,000 mi (96,000 to 160,000 km). It's advisable that you change your gearbox oil filter at the same time as your oil.

Mazda bravo b2600 gearbox growles and grumbles. cant select 2nd or 4th gear. 1st, 3rd,5th & reverse ok.

I am sorry to tell that the gearbox need to have some major repair. It is also not advisable to continue driving as the gearbox can breakdown completely leaving you stranded. At least one the cluster drive gears in the gearbox is damaged (gear tooth stripped off) that will result in that only some of the gears being able to be selected. The broken off tooth are still in the gearbox and due to the oil movement in the gearbox it can be "washed up " in between to engaged gears destroying those as well. This will happen up to the point where there are no gear selection at all.

Transmission fluid smells burnt, trouble engaging gears

Hi Louie, When the ATF smells burned it usually indicates a problem inside the gearbox. Let's hope not though. Drain the ATF oil and then drop the gearbox oil pan. Remove and replace the oil filter and the pan gasket and then refit it. Fill the box with the required amount of transmission fluid. Once filled, make sure the park brake is fully engaged and then check the ATF level with the engine running and the shift in neutral selected. It should be at the top of the lower marks on the transmission dip stick. If the problem persists, the gearbox needs major work or replacement. Regards John
