Error code P0402 2001 Ford Escape

With all these codes you need a professional to help fix this, you will likely throw parts at it and still not fix it. If you do want to try a repair at very least go on eBay and try and find a used factory repair manual set. If you google each code the explanation of the code will show, but it will only give you a system of the car, that means it can be a sensor or a part or the wiring or the computer that runs the system. That code does not have anything to do with it not starting. That code is for EVAP control leak. What is the car doing when you try and start it? Does it turn over or anything?

is this Autozoned code? or a real scan tool. for modern cars.

did they show you, tell you or did you write it down wrong?



do post what tool produced this code, its rare.



a Honda Ford? really??? is this an engine swap?

if not a honda. you might want to post to Ford, as we dont have books on fords here.

but like all DTCs there are many causes, and the tech does the test

stated in the FSM. got FSM? factory service manual... youd need that.



no engine stated, or any year, Ford, so not possible to answer lacking that..

P1 xxx means factory ford only code. do not read other makers of cars codes, just ford. or fail big time..

2.0 or 3.0 L engine ? DPFE sensor . What code is stored ?

Swap the coil pack with another cylender. If the error code follows the coil pack then replace the coilpack.

Ok here is the solution when I had the exact same problem with my 2001 Ford Escape:
Replace:

Idler air control valve
EGR vaccum sylenoid
EGR valve

I did all of this work myself (and as a girl it was not hard at all), it cost me around $170.00 for all of the parts, had it done in less than 2 hrs., erased the codes and have not had a problem since then! I hope this helps you out, cuz it sure would have helped me out when I encountered the same problem.

unplug the battery for about ten minutes to reset the stereo... if you need a code to activate it make sure you know the code and how to enter it. do you get this error for all cd's or just ones you have burnt yourself ?
