Only one word here has meaning, and is very very weak,
"difficulty" (says zero to any mechanic or tech)

  1. slow turning crank shaft? heard to be slow? or seen./
  2. cranks fast but fails to start or hard starting...???
  3. is battery good, terminal lugs clean/?
  4. try another loaned good battery? to start yet>?
  5. try jumper cables.? jump starts, nah the starter is fast.
  6. ok ever get a full tune up this decade? (weak spark , or clogged filters are hopeless0
  7. start for 2-3 seconds and stalls>
  8. start and runs every time but is long cranking, see#6
  9. my guess is the starter sounds wrong, so you bought a new starter, before , trying a charged battery first (borrowed) or jumped off a running donor car? that it?
  10. or does difficulty mean, key works 1 time not next.?
  11. whine from where?> abnormal sounds.
  12. is car Auto or stick, my stick even push start or gravity starts on any hill , even with a dead starter motor.
  13. or is it just that whine thing? the question... i bet not.
  14. always start at battery, batteries are weak technology 1900s lead acid, still. and can fail after only 3 years, and can be intermittent or weak intermittently, batteries have a large list of odd symptoms (even cracks in side). always blame it first. an prove otherwise. use a voltmeter, 11vdc cranking is PAR. not less. (less in Alaska, no location on earth stated and matters)
  15. , some times a starter can fail and it (electr motor) spins but the crank shaft does not, that is a bad starter in most case. but not this one, its new. its spins real fast oddly due to the starter is a series wound dc motor.
  16. why not get car serviced, or post a video of sounds of difficult.

    whine

    we cant here it
nor use my stethoscope to find it.
    location location location
matters. takes live humans to hear it.
we can guess here all day,
or you can find it, using your hears.
your stethoscope,or even a rubber hose to ear
or ear on end of long screws driver, and other ways... (endless)

    x2, cranks robustly ?
    or not?
cranks fast then starts but is hard to start?
that whine is that before cranking, during or after.
all this is things we see in 1min work
    here, zero,
we cant do any of that here.

    (starters have many failure modes)
    not just dead.
using a $5 stethoscope, to side of starter
if it makes funny sounds, it be bad.
just $5 to find that. at any autostore.
the $32 tool is best to have.
finds vast noise causes. it does.

but the $5 one works too.... buy one,

When you say you're having a hard time starting it does that mean it cranks over fine but it just takes a while to start or does that mean the starter is dragging when you try to start it

That's not a remote starter on your key chain, it's a keyless entry for an alarm system.

First, make sure you can turn the engine by hand. If you can't then the starter can't turn it either. Have someone else turn the key and look for the source of the click...may be a relay. Go over the starting circuit with a volt meter. Check for power at the starter main terminal and then with the key turned to "start" check for power at the trigger terminal on the starter. Check battery voltage and check relay operation.
You have a neutral safety switch on the transmission if its an automatic and a clutch switch if it's a stick. Check them as well. Make sure battery grounding on fender and block are also clean and secure.

Not sure which engine you have, but here is diagram for 4-banger. I can get the others, but I think the starter curcuit will be the same. This may not be readable after download. Starter circuit is in upper left. I also attached a blowup that is better res.

2004 jeep wrangler SE start circuit will not pull in the starter

Is your starter good? What happens when you try and start the jeep? Does the starter just spin? If so you have a bad pull in winding on your starter. You can just get that fixed or get a whole new starter.

Starter problem on jeep

your flywheel is probally missing teeth. Take a socket and put on the crankshaft pulley and turn it about half a turn. Then try to start it,it should start. If it does or tries you will need another flywheel.

97 jeep wrangler 6cy starts runs well until turned off then will not start for about 2 hours

The most common problem is the starter.
When the engine gets to operating temperature, the starter gets the same temperature because it's mounted next to the engine.
Most solenoids in the starter wear out with age and can't take the heat of the engine anymore.
