Why does it start for just a split second, then die?

Thekey to my 2000 Saturn sc2 was broke and has left me stranded. I took the back of the switch off so I could use a screwdriver to start the car.

Sounds as if you are not really getting power to the "run" wires, but only to the "start wires". The smart move would have been to get a new key, instead of ruinning the switch.

SOURCE: 2001 saturn sc2 will die after starting

The key is to locate the Bosch type relay.

It's a simply SPST 12V relay.

The alarm install like to hid it so it will prevent a car theft to by pass the relay.

Most likely it's on a female socket. The relay may be sitting off center,

THE KEY IS to find this black square relay.

Sounds like the the Bendix is bad in the starter, which pushes out the drive gear to engage the flywheel. You'll need to replace the Bendix or the starter. It's a bit tough to get to the starter, it is underneath the intake manifold.

2002 Saturn SC2 slowly died on highway and won't quite start

Check for a shorted or grounded fuel injector the test light will flash but there's not enough current to move the injector. Use a DVOM check that they're all the same.

My key was broke and has left me stranded. I took the back of the switch off so I could use a screwdriver to start the car. It starts for just a split second then dies. What is causing this?

The anti-theft system ! all vehicles have a transponder in the head of the key ,if the theft-deterrent module doesn't receive a signal from that transponder it won't send an fuel injector enable signal . What make , model an year vehicle ! You need to have new keys made an programmed .

Saturn - 2000 sc2 - horn won' work - when fuse placed in, won't stop blaring. replaced fuses, switched out relays.

Sounds like the switch in the steering wheel is stuck if the horn won't stop sounding. They get rusty and stick. Sometimes you can take apart and sand them.

2000 Saturn SC2 wont start.

I would test the battery and then go to starter and make sure the sylinoid is good. Autozone will test for free if you have nothing to do it yourself.
