If it is idling, the injectors are working fine and spraying fuel. Did you check for DTC trouble codes? You need the dealership, or a good auto-electrician with a $5,000 scan tool computer.

Test battery with load tester. Check for electrical short.

It can be issue with fuel pressure,its low or the problem relates to faulty spark plugs.

did it throw a code? it could also be a crank or cam sensor or an ign modual

your battery needs replacing

problem could be stopped up fuel filter if car dies when you drive car has a lean fuel system need more gas on acceleration which is a rich fuel mixture.

Have the timing checked out. If it is off a couple of teeth, the engine should run, but will die when warmed up. Your 8 Cylinder uses a timing belt with a hydraulic belt tensioner. If the tensioner is leaking, or worn from old age, the belt may jump a couple of teeth. I believe your engine is an interference engine. If the belt has slipped, it is possible you may have bent valves, or worse.

Just wondering, when the engine dies on you while driving, does it start right back up, or does it start up only after cooling down?

Try to replace the fuel filter and then check the spark plugs. Mke sure to clean the spark plugs and after you clean the spark plugs and still the same it wont start replace the spark plugs and check the distributor as well.
