Could be several things
If it judders when changing gears it is probably a worn or oil contaminated clutch or a hydraulic problem, clutch activator/leaking pipe/low fluid level.
If it shudders whilst driving it is probably a worn driveshaft or hub bearing.
If it shudders whilst braking it is probably worn brake disks or a sticking brake caliper.
Have it checked out by a local garage as leaving it will only make matters worse.
when my front wheel bearing went the ABS light came on common on ford (exploders) explorer anyway check the unaversal joint on front there thould be no play at all when moving from foreword and reverse actually easyest way to do this is to jack the tire off the ground and move tire back and forth and look for any play, and last tires ? Are they warn my exploder did the same thing the only fix is 4 new same size tires I changed my wheel bearing and tires and all is good at 94K good luck CJ
This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep
No they are the gear shift rod and stabilizer bar.Its normal there is wear there. You are getting clutch judder. The only solution is to replace the clutch
