My cruise control on my 2001 Kia Sportage stopped working.

When I press the cruise control button on the right side panel, the button lights up, but I DO NOT get the "CRUISE" indicator in my instrument panel. Plus the "set" button on the steering wheel will not set the speed. It looks like even though the button light comes on, the cruise control is not turned on because it does not light up the "CRUISE" on my instrument panel. There are no fusees indicated either inside or in the engine compartment for the cruise control.

Check your repair manual where the vacuum hoses for the cruise controls are (engine bay). Maybe one of the hoses came off or has a leak.

Kia cruise control fuse

You can check the fuse but I would lean more towards the set button being bad.

2003 oldsmobile alero v6 -- cruise control stopped working...The cruise on/of button lights up, the green light cruise indicator comes on in the dash panel, but cruise control does not engage when CST SET...

Try checking the small switch at the top of the brake pedal. There may be two one for brake lights and one for the cruise control. To ascertain what is what, pull one wire off and see if brake lights work. If not, then the other switch controls the cruise control disconnect and engage..I you have a DC test light check to see if power is on on both side of the switch with brake pedal up. If so, depress pedal and check power on the other side there should be none, if there is the switch is defective.

Cruise control doesnt work

I know this sounds crazy, but have you checked to see if all of your lights illuminate? My 2007 Sportage had a burned out brake light, then the cruise dtopped working also. I thought it was just getting ready to start systematically breaking down, piece by piece. As soon as I replaced the brake light, however, the cruise instantly began working again! I figured it was some strange way of Kia letting me know if I was missing a brake light. No guarantees, but it might be worth cheking out.

Well Im hoping that by telling you to check your cruise control wiring and vacuum routing for broken, unplugged wires or vacuum hoses you just might find that a simple vacuum line is in need of attention. good luck
