Lower ball joints and strut bearings. But these can cause a stiff turn. Nothing like when you loose your power steering. You could have bought a bad rack. Been there. I started rebuilding all mine.

I have replaced the power steering pump on my 2004 Kia Sedona, now the steering seems hard to turn and it's only been 4 months when I had it repaired. Do you think it's the steering rack now ?

try this trick ,put some engine oil around the top nut on the suspension leg look under the bonnet and you will see it ,then leave their and put some more on after it soaks through to teh bearing underneath ,cant guarentee it will work in your case as something else may be wrong but i have cured many a tight steering problem like this so now i do it everytime i service a vehicle

Is it very difficult to change the power steering pump in a 2004 kia sedona?

  1. Remove the Power Steering belt.
  2. Disconnect the power steering hoses from the power steering pump. Take caution as there may be some pressure.
  3. Remove the bolts holding the Power Steering pump to the pump mount.
  4. Install the new Power Steering pump.
  5. Reconnect the power steering hoses.
  6. Reconnect the Power Steering belt.
  7. Top off with fluid.
  8. Start up the vehicle.
  9. Turn the wheel to the left.
  10. Top off with fluid.
  11. Turn the wheel all the way to the right.
  12. Top off with fluid.
  13. Repeat the last 4 steps until the fluid level doesn't change much, and is topped off.

Some modern cars have an electrically driven pump to supply high pressure oil to operate the power steering. However, most cars have an oil pump for the steering which is turned by a belt from the crankshaft pulley. If the belt is loose or slipping, heavy steering will be the result, especially noticable at low speeds. Check belt for tightness, and check oil level is not low, possibly due to a leak?

This sounds like textbook steering rack failure. If the internal seals wear out the rack will leak fluid internally, causing the exact symptoms you're describing. These can be rebuilt, but it's hardly worth the effort. It's less headache and only slightly more expensive to replace it.
