Where is the a/c heater blend door actuator located on a 2006 dodge charger

Thermostat stuck open, low coolant level, stuck blend door or bad blend door actuator, or blogged heater core. Feel both hoses to the heater core. They should both be about the same temp. If one is hot and the other is cold, you have a clogged heater core. If both are hot, then the thermostat is working and you've got a blend air door/actuator problem. Actuator failure is pretty common on these. Remove the actuator and open the door by hand. If you get heat, replace the actuator

Feel the heater hoses where they go through the firewall. If they're both hot but you're not getting any heat, your blend door is not moving to mix heated air with unheated air. It could be the blend door actuator not working or the HVAC control unit not working.

I would pull off the blend door actuator and swap it out with a new one. Or another option is to swap it out with one of the other actuators. The blend door actuator is interchangeable with the actuators for the mode-air doors and the recirculation-air door.

Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

If equipped, remove the silencer from below the driver side of the instrument panel.

Disconnect the wire harness connector from the blend door actuator located on the driver side of the air distribution housing.

Remove the two screws that secure the blend door actuator to the actuator mounting bracket and remove the actuator

This could be a problem with your blend door. They can break inside of your heater box and not allow the heat to pass through the vents. You can check the heater core hoses in the engine compartment at the fire wall to see if both hoses are hot. If they are hot the problem is in the heater box. Also check the blend door actuator to see if this is working. If the blend door is broken this repair would require removal of the dash to access the heater box. Our shop would charge $800 for this repair.

The actuators are under the dash. three of the four are on the drivers side just above the accelorator and are attached to your blower motor. the fourth is located under the passenger dash to the right and is attached to the recirc blower.any problems let me know hope this helps you

LG, first you need to make sure coolant is circulating through the heater core. let the engine reach normal temperature, locate your heater hoses going to the heater core, they both will be near the middle of the firewall a little towards the passenger side of vehicle, be careful but touch both hoses and make sure they BOTH feel hot to the touch. If both do, then coolant is circulating through the core.

Next, you need to make sure the switch in the dash is working the blend door. The blend door is located right in front of the heater core, almost right behind the radio. If you take the little filler panel off at the bottom (depending on year model) you should see the blend door actuator, it should be white in color and has a set of wires (maybe 6-8) that all goes into 1 plug that plugs into it. With it hooked up and truck running as you turn the temp know from cold to hot you should be able to see the actuator turning the blend door rod.

It's not real easy to see, but if the actuator is turning and you have hot water/coolant circulating through your core, then you may have a broken blend door. The only way to fix it would be to go into the air box. Unless you have experience doing this type of work, I don't suggest you trying it. It is a complicated job/task to even get access to the blend door in the air box. Hope this helps you identify your problem.

The temperature of the air coming out of the ducts is controlled by a door that moves between the heater core and the AC core, it is called the "blend" door for obvious reasons as it blends the hot and cold air streams to give the desired air temperature at the dash vents. The door is controlled by a small gear drive DC motor called the blend door actuator, what happens in most case is the actuator is damaged by a blend door that is warped from heat being hard to move or not moving at all which is the case with your truck. The blend door and its actuator should be replaced as one repair, the dash must be removed from the truck to access the air ducting that contains the blend door, you absolutely need a service manual to complete this job, it takes about 10 hours.

Cold on drivers side and heat on passengers side, actuators working properly and blend doors are moving. Heatertreater is for piece of plastic on actuator motor. I moved blend door by hand after disconnecting actuator and works fine, both sides freezing when moved in opposite direction.

Blend air door may be stuck. I removed a pencil from a heater box before. It had fallen from the dash, down through the defrost vents and jamed the door.

If heater core is getting coolant circulating through it then you may have a temp blend door, or blend door actuator not working properly. The blend door is located in the air box under the dash, and the actuator is located on the air box. You may be able to visually check the operation while turning the temp knob, by locating the coresponding actuator on the air box and monitoring the movement. If it is moving ok and still no heat then the blend door, or lever is broken, which will require removal of the dash.
