Oil leak problems

Suggest a blanket and a really good flashlight, maybe some spray "brake-clean".
Find a way to get your car up in the air so you can see where the oil is coming from. I sometimes drive one side of the car onto a tall curb to give me ground clearance.
Crawl underneath.
Look for the leak.
I think a valve cover gasket or a leaking oil pressure sending unit is more likely than the front seal.
Being super careful not to spray your eyes, the spray "brake clean" is used to clean the area around the leak so you can see it better.
You can fix either of these two items yourself.

Engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket are common.

The intake manifold plenum gasket may leak and cause increased oil consumption/burning and a spark knock during acceleration; the gasket should be replaced.

External oil leaks from valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets (front or rear), and the rear crankshaft (rear main) seal area are common. The rear main seal is an unlikely source. Normally, the bearing cap mating surfaces (as well as the sealing surface between the oil pan and bearing cap) are the source for the leaks.

Engine oil leaks at the distributor can be misdiagnosed as leaks from theintake manifold seal, oil pan gasket, or rear crankshaft (rear main) seal. A revised distributor is available if oil is found inside the distributor.

If the oil filter casing shows signs of distortion from excessive oil pressure, theoil pump should be replaced.

Often misdiagnosed as a leaking oil filter gasket, the oil filter adapter can seep from between the adapter and engine block.

Carbon buildup on the top of the piston is common. As the buildup increases with mileage and over time, symptoms may vary from light ticking, to ticking/hammering, to hammering/knocking noises. Fuel injector cleaner often solves the problem.

It's getting old--various gaskets could cause the leak--usually valve pan gasket (maybe at the back of it near firewall where you can't see) or main engine seal (engine must come out), or a camshaft seal.

either the cam seals are leaking or the valve cover gasket is leaking into the timing cover. maybe even head gasket... but in most of the cases like oil leaking from behind the timing cover the camshaft seal is the faulty .and replacing the camshaft solves the problem. no its not a costly part to be replaced. you can get it from a local car repair tech or from www.autozone.com service center.they also deal in parts. You must buy a replacement sensor, since your existing one is already loose. Then, put the replacement in place. Make sure that
this is reconnected tight. Better still, you can put around the thread
two layers of teflon tape, Size 1/2 inch. This will secure the sensor
tight in place, and solve your problem. Send your e-mail and vote for

Before replacing the timing cover gasket, crawl underneath the truck and spray everything with brake parts cleaner, then wipe with rags until dry & clean. Start the truck, then crawl under the front of the truck, using a flashlight to spot leaks. Chances are the leak is the seal between the vacuum pump and power steering pump. If this is the case, contact Pete Gould at fixinrams.com. He can sell you an uprated seal kit, or provide you with a totally remanned vacuum pump reasonably. The vacuum pump runs about $375, replacing front cover gasket is about $1100. Hope this helps

this being a side mounted 3.1 liter (v6) the front of the engine would be on the right side of the car from the driver's perspective. if the oil is coming from that side cocentrate your pinpointin there, make sure it is not one of the valve cover gaskets and oil is running down from the top (common) and making pinpoiinting the leak difficult because it tends to spreak on its way down. Seals tand to leak more when the engine is running, so you may have to run it while parked for a little while and check for the leak. It may be the crankshaft seal if it is localized to below the crankshaft; Or if it is coming out of the timing cover then it may be the camshaft seal of the lower intake seal. Intake seal leakes are next to valve cover gasket leak the most common on those engine. Update us. Good luck.

run engine up to temp so oil thins out then lie under car u should see wer oil is leaking from likely coming from main seal

i suspect the front rotors (or maybe rear, but likely front) are warped. it is custom to replace pads and rotors to cure problem. would also ck calipers and pad slides to make sure there not sticking.
oil leaks happen in many places on an engine. typical places for these cars is valve cover gasket, oil pressure switch, and timing cover gasket. but there are many other possibilities

hi if your engine 22R front engine first in side timing cover where engine bully fitted there is oil seal, next valve cover front side between cover and head there seal not like oil seal half cercle shap it makes leak also front side of the camshaft there is oil seal..
