SOURCE: how do i remove starter on 2001 ford f350 dually (7.3 l powerstroke)

Starter

Removal & Installation 1. Disconnect the positive and negative battery cables.
2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
3. Remove the starter terminal cover.
4. Remove the terminal nut and separate the battery starter cable from the starter motor.
5. Disconnect the solenoid (S) terminal connector, if equipped with a starter mounted solenoid.
ø To disconnect the hard-shell connector from the solenoid (S) terminal, grasp the plastic shell and pull off; do not pull on the wire. Pull straight off to prevent damage to the connector and (S) terminal.
6. Remove the starter motor retaining bolts.
7. Remove the starter motor from the vehicle.
To Install:
8. Place the starter motor in position and install the starter motor retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 15-20 ft. lbs. (20-27 Nm).
9. Install the battery starter cable and a terminal nut to the starter motor. Tighten the terminal nuts to 79 inch lbs. (9 Nm).
10. Connect the solenoid (S) terminal connector, if equipped with a starter mounted solenoid.
11. Install the starter solenoid safety cap. If equipped.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. Connect the positive and negative battery cables.
14. Start the engine several times to check starter motor operation

SOURCE: 99 Ford F350 Powerstroke diesel; misfire code; loss of power

The first thing i would check is the Glow Plug Relay. Depending on your engine there should be (2 solenoids, or just one) sitting on the top front a little to the right of center. (right bank of engine that is) If you have 2 of them one should be smaller and it is the one furthest to the rear of the engine. It controls power to your glow plugs for cold start up. When you turn the key to the on position the 2 larger wires should both have power. When the ignition is off only one wire should have power. Check this if you do both these tests and only one wire has power with key on or off then you need to make sure that the key switch is sending power to the solenoid. Do this by checking the smaller wire with key off. It should not have power and then with key on it should have power. If this is good and test one is bad then the relay is bad. Note This is not true for the larger realy that sits furthest foward on the engine. The bigger one. This test will not work for it but it controls your intake heater. On another note: This is a timed circut and will "kick out" after about 1-2 minutes. In otherwords it does not stay on all the time that key switch is on it will for for about 1-2 minutes then shut off! Next would be your injectors are getting weak or bad and even your HPOP could be getting weak. or glow plugs in engine are out, In otherwords there are alot of possibilities causing your problems If you are getting a misfire code for your injectors then you may have some weak or inop injectors. Any way this will give you a pretty easy test for the most common failure which is the Glow plug relay. About 35-40 bucks at your local auto parts house.

Ford f350 4x4 7.3 powerstroke, lack of power. max out at 20-30mph when pulling hills with or without trailer, doesn't seem to know when to shift, sometimes will shift sometimes not. ?????

check the wiring harness and connectors to the boost sensor, if sensor is not reading the truck drops into safe mode, and drastically decreases engine power. the sensor is located on the intake manifold.

What is a tbc fault on a 2006 ford f350 6.0

That is your trailer brake controller that is built into your dash. If you are hooked up to a trailer it could mean you are losing your connection or ground to the trailer. If you are not connected to a trailer it means there is a problem with your brake controller possibly a short in the wiring caising the fault code.

F150 Ford 1998 is there a fuse for a trailer and where is it located? Thank you

There are a few fuses for the trailer tow adapter.

1st, is theodd location on the 97-98, engine mini fuse panel has a 20 A fuse forthe stop / turn lamps. Have seen it covered in tape from the factory onsome 97-98 MY trucks.
This is on page 142 in the owners 1997 manual, all the revisions for the 1998 owners manual I have seen do not include this fuse box for some reason.

Download a PDF version from Ford, for the 1997 MY at :

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/owners_manuals/default.asp

This is a picture of the Power Distribution Box, additional relay box and engine mini fuse panel with the covers off. The 20A in the upper right panel with the red base, is the trailer stop/turn fuse.

The others :
1. Power Distribution Panel / engine compartment fuse panel
Fuse #1 - Trailer tow back-up and tail lamps
Fuse #16 - Trailer tow battery charge and stop/turn lamps
Fuse #28 - Trailer tow electronic brake

2. Instrument Panel Fuses ( cab fuse panel by hood release )
#23 - trailer tow battery charge relay

Need fuse list for 2001 ford f350 trailer lights not working

In the fuse box under the hood, fuse in position 20 is a 7.5amp fuse for the trailer left turn circuit, fuse in position 22 is a 7.5 amp fuse for the right turn circuit, if the fuses are good and you have power at them it is going to be wiring, at the back of the truck close to the driver side at the bumper is a gray connector that will take factory wiring to you trailer wiring the yellow wire is left turn/brake light, the green wire is right turn/brake light, and the brown is tail lights, and the orange wire is 12volt feed for if there is a battery on the trailer that needs to be kept charged for break away safty brakes.
