An Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch is just that, a 'pressure sensor', and yes they do have a leak history. It may sometimes leak from the threaded area that it is installed by, and in most cases can easily be fixed by tightening it a little (use caution to not strip the threads in the block or breaking it off, if that happens then you have even more problems). Otherwise a leak may be from the switch mechanism itself, if so then it is best change it right away and it is actually very easy to do so. Remember it is a a 'pressure sensor', so if it is leaking that means it can easily become a stronger leak, to include a total leak, meaning pumping oil out of the engine at the range of 40-60 PSI.

Will a 1995 Buick Skylark leak oil if the Oil Sending Unit is burnt or bad?

Yes the sending unit will leak oil if it's bad. It will leak where the electrical plug clicks into the unit. If you disconnect the plug and remove the unit, you can see on the plug end where the oil leaks thru.

Can a oil sending unit possiblely be the cause for an oil leak

Yes it certainly can. Because oil has to pass into the sending unit under pressure in order to work. If the sending unit develops an internal leak it can leak a large amount of oil in a relatively short period of time.

Engine oil leaking near sending unit. Replaced unit and oil still leaks. What could be the cause?

Look up overhead above the sending unit for any oil that maybe dripping from above, makeing you think it's the sending unit leaking. If not then you may use a little thread sealer to seal the leak. Also check to see if the sending unit is loose and the threads may not be the same as the old unit you removed (metric/standard/pipe) Hope this will help you.

The oil pressure sending unit screws into the engine block so you will need to look between the oil pan and the head.I suggest that you try tightening your oil filter first.

Ford Falcon 1997 oil light sometimes comes on for a couple of minutes. Checked oil, and all good!

In order to troubleshoot this problem correctly, you need to clean the motor first.

An intermittent/shorting oil sending unit is the source of the problem.

You need to make sure it's not an oil leak into the oil sending unit first.

After you clean the motor then look for oil leak.

Also make sure the wire from the oil sending unit wire is not touching the engine block.

Oil sending unit is cheap. It's an easy job.

Change it at your next oil change.
