Straiht 50?? Are you driving in the desert....

Extended use could verry likely cause engine damage, I would stick to the genuine oil, or at least use correctly grade and type.

Mercedes usually run a synthetic 5w/30 or 10w/40..

CHANGING THE OIL IN A 2008 MERCEDES C350 WHICH OIL WEIGHT DO YOU USE?

Application:
Use in temperatures above 23 degrees

Note :
Valvoline SynPower Full Synthetic
20W-50 Motor Oil

System holds about 8 1/2 quarts
Once you are using a synthetic oil, that is the only oil you may use from know. Anything else WILL do damage to the seals in the engine. This engine also comes from the factory with synthetic oil. Use a Mercedes oil filter. Believe me please, there is a difference in how oil filters are made and an inferior oil or filter can cause major engine damage!

Oil and Gas

1986 CHRYSLER FIFTH AVENUE 5.2L 8-cyl Engine Code [P]

LUBRICANTS & FLUIDS:
Engine Oil Grade 1....SAE ..API*
Above -18C......10W-30, 10W-40, 10W-50
Above -7C......20W-40, 20W-50

CAPACITIES:
Engine, without filter..........3.8 liters Add extra oil when replacing filter. After refill check oil level.

Use Lucas oil treatment and use the 10W-40, if your going to use the 20W-50. Use no oil treatment, the 20W-50 is thick enough. 15W-40 is what's used on the Diesel engines use on the 18 wheel trucks.

Thank you for using fixya.

What kind of oil does a 1984 MB 300D take?

deisels have high compression so I never put synthetic oils in them because they are very thin. I use a thick regular oil. It would depend on the weather where you live. I live in california and use valvoline 20 50. On an earlier vehicle the oils where not as complicated so just use a good regular non syn. oil and it will be fine with the seals, gaskets and bearings in your engine

1985 mercedes-benz 190D, 2.2, automatic, are there any better oil for (D) than the 15/40 oil, and to clean the fuel jetts, what do you recommend to use, in the gas tank. I do have a small oil leak, what...

Castrol Tection or their new Elixion is the oil I recommend for diesel. With the regard to the oil leak, I am a tech and don't recommend putting any magic additive quick fixes in engines. If something can block an oil leak it could block a very important oil lubrication chanel in you engine and cause something to seize.
I hope this helps.
