4 cyl. Auto trans. in limp mode. takin the shift solenoid out to re build it i fnd ripped wires. My question may seem should i re connect the first or cont with the shift solenoi

Clear fault codes and see if it comes back, if so,check wiring and plug for bad connection.

Generally if the shift solenoid fails and throws the TCM into limp mode it needs to be replaced, but I would check the electrical connections first since you just changed the tranny, maybe you pulled one a little too hard or didn't get it "click locked" in.

Some cars require a code scanner which will read trans codes to re-set this.

First thing tomorrow, take it back to the shop that rebuilt it!!

P 1751 Shift Solenoid" A" performance. The solenoid is part of the transmission valve body and yes if this solenoid fails you will get limp mode.The only solution is a new solenoid may be even the wires to it or even the transmission module

that trans is a fully electronic transmission, and cannot work just from the shifter. ( its just a park awl, and a switch to tell what gear to go to) its stuck in a forward gear, if all solenoids are out, it may be a computer issue, or wiring. check electrical connections to the trans

The town and country vans are know for transmission problems and it would not be stuck in 2nd gear if it was in limp mode. Limp mode typically controls the engine. I have seen people do a transmission flush/filter and add lucas to temporary fix the problem. There is also a good chance that the transmission has a solenoid problem preventing it from shifting into any other gears but second. Hope this helps!

The transmissions available in your caravan are problematic for having a bad solenoid pack. Once the transmission is set in the LIMP IN mode, then you need to take it to a dealer to get the code reset from the transmission and to get it diagnosed properly. I'm sure there will be a code such as, "trans solenoid stuck in LR" which means " low range" if the transmission went into limp in mode, then that simply means it defaulted to second gear only. Which is telling you to have it looked at asap. I'm sure if you repalce the transmission solenoid pack and gasket and perform the re-learn procedure, then your problem will go away. good luck!

Check your transmission fluid level asap. if the level is good, you will need to inspect the shift solenoids located inside the transmission pan. replace any solenoids that are proven to be faulty. i would also advise to test the pcm/tcm for its operational value as well. this device controls the shifting patterns of the auto trans.

while checking the solenoids, if you notice any metal fragments on the bottom of the pan, this will be a sign of major gear friction. you should re build in this case.

you have to change the solenoid control if your car is 3.5 engine the solenoid control located at inside the transmission..
