1993 YJ, 2.5L 4 cylinder jeep wrangler.
new rotor? (do a full tuneup first)/ cap rotor, sparks and wires?
if not why not? carbon tracking is impossible to diagnose
some paths are hidden, on old caps and rotors. why skip this.?
someone fiddled the distributor and touched the distrib, clamp
now injector sync timing is way off.
scan it yet?
check fuses.
this is part of the first Chrysler EFI system.
this engine has a single coil (spark) so if one works all do.
and has CKP sensor that are very difficult.
and cmp sensor in the distrib,(gee scan it?)
i use a INNOVA 3140 scan tool it works in 93-95 (this ecu)
now the CKP, did you mess with it? best it to not touch it.
on the 4 liter. ckp is tuned.(using a paper spacer)

it has a critical gap, but only on the 4.0L it seems
the 2.5L CKP is precision mounted for gap setting fixed.
if you crank the engines, with scan tool attached
it will show DTC errors for CMP or CKP.
or for spark.
The spark is 100% timed off those 2 sensors.
The ECU warns you if even 1 in 10 is wrong.

Sounds like a spark plug or distributor problem.... Change out all your spark plugs and check your wires for breaks. Check fuel injectors for build-up.

What is the firing order of a 1993 s10 2.8L V6 and how are the cylinders numbered

In your truck the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6. Number 1 cylinder is on the pass side front. So it is numbered on the pass side from front to rear 1-3-5 and on the drivers side front to rear 2-4-6. The distributer rotor will turn clockwise looking at it from the grill of the truck. Number one plug wire in the cap should be at the 7 o'clock location. going around the cap clockwise starting in the 7 o'clock position, the wires should run 1-2-3-4-5-6.. Note: The 2.8L v6 #1 cylinder location is opposite of the 4.3L v6 or any of the v8's. Hope this helps.

Distrbutor to spark plug wiring

Hey there janandshane,

I've got a 91 Wrangler, lots of fun. Here's your info.

Viewed from above, front of vehicle on the right side, cylinder locations are:
6 5 4 3 2 1 for a six cylinder and 4 3 2 1 for a four Cylinder

The firing order is:
1 5 3 6 2 4 for the six and 1 3 4 2 for the four.

The distributor rotation is clockwise.

To find Top dead center (for wire to cylinder #1 on distributor), look for and line up the timing marks on the crankshaft (front of the engine).

Or, pull the #1 spark plug, stuff the hole with a cork or a rag. Slowly crank the engine until the cork pops out.

Pull the distributor off. The rotor is pointing where the plug for cylinder #1 should go. The rest of the wires go in the firing order clockwise.

That about covers it.

Remember: Good things come to those who rate. How about a nice FixYa?
