Why distributer drive gear lays done

check the drive system for the distributor
ford employ a shaft that drives the oil pump and if the oil pump is under undue stress, it strips the gear or breaks a shear pin
all the gear is driving is a distributor shaft and in the first instance could be a seized bush for the shaft but with replacements failing I would be looking further afield , like an oil pump

Skoda gear selector assembly manual gearbox 1998 felicia please show design and possible solution to oil leak from gear box end

Normally there is a seal of sorts here (it may be a felt seal or a rubber flap) but I find that if there is a problem here I check firstly the oil level in the gear box and the viscosity of the oil in the box Remove the filler plug (plug in the side of the box ) and drain until oil is level with the bottom of the threads. Best replace oil with a known viscosity oil for you gear box.

Do the timing belt cover on a 1996 camry have a seal or gasket that can leak oil, mine seems to be leaking for around that area. If so how to replace the seal/gasket?

The timing cover itself does not seal any oil from leaking. It is just a cover to prevent debris from getting into the timing belt and ruining it.

To find the oil leak you will need to remove the timing cover and inspect the seals behind the cam gear, crank gear, and oil pump drive gear, and the oil pump to block seal. The most common leaks on these are the cam gear.

Mechanic mistakenly put gear oil in tank, the pump is knocking

What the heck did he think he was putting in the tank? Gear oil is very thick and heavy, so the fuel pump may have a problem as it is meant to pump gas, which is not thick and heavy like gear oil. There was probably some gear oil in the tank while the pump was operating, and it pumped some gear oil for a short time, which damaged it. Insist that the 'mechanic' replace the fuel pump at no cost to you ,and find a new mechanic for future repairs. Good luck.
